screen name...how did you choose yours?

I've wanted to change mine for quite a while and now with the changes in my life now is the perfect time. When I created it, I didn't know what to choose so I just chose my last name. Since the name doesn't really apply anymore, I need some creative ideas to come up with a new one.

How did you choose yours?

Re: screen name...how did you choose yours?

  • Mine is kind of a nick name of my first name.
  • One of my long-time friends used to call me Guava in our high school/college years.  She picked the name from a tv show where the main character used to repeat words they liked, and in one episode said something like "guava guava guava."  I also like to repeat words I like.
  • I am so not creative, so mine is still my knot name from my wedding planning days.  I'm from texas and got married on the beach, original I know.  I too have kinda wanted to change mine but I don't really know what to.

  • I also went super-creative with my email addy shortened.   I kind of wish I hadn't, but I don't really want to change it now.  Not that I'm enough of a regular for everyone to know my screen name, but I don't want to be even more unknown that I already am.  Childish, I know.

  • It's my knot name- DH was a fire chief when we got married.  Nothing creative.

A lot of the ff's refer to their wives as their "bride"- regardless of how long they've been married.  DH does the same- I think it's adorable.

  • I've been a long-distance Austinite (living in PA, now DFW) since I was engaged and I got married in my hometown of Austin.  In '06.  That's about it. :)

  • i changed my sn right after we got hitched cause i was dorkily excited about being DH's wife (he's a pilot thus flyman)
  • after DH and I were engaged I came across a website that combined names together for fun and it came up with risa  (RI- for DH and SA- for me) . But the funny thing is that risa is the last part of my name IRL,and a good friend of mine has called me Risa for years. I thought it was fate and just tagged on our wedding date for fun. • Typo! :) It's supposed to be Leigha23. That's been my online persona since I was about 12, back in the day when I had to use dial up to get onto AOL long distance! Leigh is my middle name IRL and Leigha is the nickname I always wanted, so when I went online, I picked that. 23 is both my birthday (9/23) and Michael Jordan's number, who I've been obsessed with since, oh, about birth! :) But I hit enter too quickly when I created my screenname here and got stuck with 12, which means absolutely nothing to me.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I have had the same sn since day one. My nieces call me Mimi. It started because the oldest couldn't say my real name (Melissa) when she was starting to talk and the nickname stuck.

  • Mine's obvious.  Smile Sometimes I think I should have made it something more random but I just don't want to mess with changing it now.

  • Mine is 'Mrs' and my college mascot! Smile  I can brain storm some ideas and email 'em to ya if you'd like!

  • Mine s a blend of my last name and DH's. I think one of our college friends coined it because we were always together, and it sounds a little raunchy, haha.
  • a blend of names (from before I was married)

I wish it was different, but I'm not really willing to change it now.

Definitely! I'm horrible at coming up with stuff like that and my name isn't really much of one for nicknames. Thanks!

  • my sisters called me a "twerp" when i was younger (i'm the 4th of 5), and not knowing anything about spanish, i started using el_twirpo as a screenname. it's never really gone away.
  • Mine was a mistake in judgement because it's actually part of my email address.  And I'm interested in changing mine too...  And I happened to find this site:

    http://www.spinxo.com/

I'm not great at coming up with nicknames/screen names either, but this one seems to help you combine words together.  It's kind of lame, if you've already got a nickname to use, but for people that don't, it could be helpful!

    Good luck!
