I'm out of my igloo now

Hello!!!

So I took a snow day yesterday.  We got 18.5 inches (or something like that).  The area was basically shut down, but I had to use a vacation day (joy of being a state employee.  But I'd rather do that then try and risk getting to work).

We live on a caldesac, and our caldesac was basically plowed in (they plowed the connecting street which then piled up about 3 feet of snow at the entrance of our caldesac).  The plow didn't come back to plow us out till 3:30 yesterday.  Was interesting.  Of course all the neighbors had already blown/shoveled their driveways.  J was super po'd when the plow came through b/c we had about 3 feet of snow again at the end of our driveway after that.

Looks like I have a lot of drama to read up on that was posted the past couple days.  Holy moly!!

How is everyone else on this fine Thursday??

  • We were snowed in yesterday, too! Work officially closed for the day, but I worked from home anyway and still managed to help H shovel the driveway. We really need to get a snow blower. But if we do, it won't snow much here for like 5 years, because that's our luck. (H actually has coworkers begging him to buy one so it stops snowing)

I'm so ridiculously busy the next two weeks. It's weird because I'm sooooo boring and yet somehow, I have stuff to do almost every day. I really prefer lazing about when I get home from work.

(An unmatched left parenthesis creates an unresolved tension that will stay with you all day.

  • Good Morning!

I slept like crap last night and am super tired and grumpy but also because I have a meeting at 3:30 at the end of the day which I hate. I know I'll get in a better mood once I see my adorable 5 month old nephew tonight! So excited but also not ready for my super picky eating sister. Hopefully, I have enough stuff in the house and she'll be able to eat something.

I've officially sent in what days/times I can start at the other job (only 3 days a week) and possibly a couple weekends so I'm hoping I won't burn myself out. And summer break isn't that far away so I'll have something to do this summer now. I keep telling myself that anyway.

  • Man, that stinks that state stuff doesn't shut down when there's that much snow.  I think they should have sent a bobcat or snowmobile to pick you up if they still expected you to be at work in that! :-)

I'm doing okay this morning.  Much less grouchy than yesterday.  Freezing in my cube just waiting for lunch time...

Well, I work for a university.  There were no classes, etc.  State offices were closed to the public.  So it was our discretion.  My thought is, "If I worked at a service place like the DMV, what the heck would I be doing all day if the office is closed to the public and people can't come in anyway?!?!"

  • I was happily reading my friends' fb statuses yesterday and very glad we decided to move. I don't miss being it the city when they get snow, at least if we get that much here it might a while to dig out, but things don't come to a halt.

Yesterday here was very sunny and warm (20*). We have been having major problems with ice dams on our roof causing leakage in 5 rooms of our house so we took advantage of the weather and cleaned off part of our roof (somewhat flat plus 130 inches of snow don't mix). I am super sore today, but happy that everything looks dry in the house so far.
