Long time no chat....I've been working like a slave, and can't NEST at work...
That being said, my life has been turned upside down. First off, DH has been unemployed for over a year...had some contract work, but nothing steady.
In the last month we've had 3 funerals. For the last funeral, I found out on Tuesday, that the funeral was on Friday. Told my boss I needed Friday off for funeral, no one else in the dept was off and I'd take a vacation. Boss says, you need to be here in the am....hello??? I have to go to funeral. Boss says, no, you need to be here in the morning....after a few minutes, I realized what was going on...
So I come in at the butt crack of dawn, and boss immediately comes into my office, and says he sorry, but there's a massive layoff, and I'm a casualty (after 12 years). He couldn't say anything before, blah, blah, blah. I'm actually one of the lucky ones, as I have 3 months. Some were marched out that day. They are moving our operations to Idaho (where I am right now freezing my ass off in -20 degrees).
As I'm leaving for the funeral, boss pulls me aside and says that he wants me to understand that this was not performance related, I was doing an excellent job, etc. I'm of course devistated as DH and I can't live with both on unemployment.
Then, DH gets and offer....it's a great offer...big bucks....in Kandahar, Afghanistan....for a 5 year commitment. I would only see him about 5 times per year (spouses aren't allowed, but I'd be able to see him on his R&R and vacation).
Then, my dad needs to move in with either me or one of my brothers. He's moving in with me (he's 86 and it's the best move for all).
Anyway, I had to go to the dr to get anti-anxiety meds and anti-depressants. My bloodpressure was high when I saw the dr (I've always had perfect BP). Anyway, I'm in turmoil to say the least. Trying to adjust and get my bearings....sucks...

I am so, so, sorry to hear all the stress life has thrown your way. Those changes in life are too many things for someone to handle, so I am glad you went to the doctor. I will keep you in my thoughts and I hope you get time check in again.
Can you tell us what type of work you'll be looking for and the general area? I'm an out-of-state nestie now, but maybe someone else will hear of something.
Ditto this. Definitely use us as a resource and let us know what you're looking for. I'm out of state too but am a good resume critic if you want help there.
I'm so sorry you're going through all of that. You were also fostering some kids too, weren't you? I'll keep you in my thoughts and hope that things look up for you really soon.

I'm so sorry everything is hitting all at once. I've been there myself, within the last couple of years, where it seemed everything that could go wrong did, and I had to face a bunch of things that even by themselves were totally devastating. I'm so glad to hear that you went to your doctor, and hope you can continue to find ways to take care of yourself. It's so easy to forget about tending to our basic needs when life falls apart. But it's so important. You can't make it through it all if you aren't taking care of you.
Stay strong. Things will change. And eventually they will get better. In the meantime, it's a great opportunity for learning and growth. You'll be surprised, I'm sure, to learn that you're way stronger than you ever thought you were! My prayers are with you that you can find the silver linings in these dark clouds, and that things get better quickly!
Wow! I'm SO sorry. My blood pressure went up just reading that, I don't want to think about what it's like to live it. Big hugs!
My try at silver lining: You could move anywhere. With both you and DH unemployed there's no strings here. You can both move somewhere else (I don't think I could let him do the Afghan thing though, especially not with a 5 year commitment...I'd rather us both work at Target and live in a one bedroom apartment)
