DH woke me up this morning with "I got an email from the landlord".....okay. We knew her plan was to sell the house once our lease is up this summer, but we hadn't talked to her recently. Apparently she has decided she wants to put the house on the market now, as in this very month, and if it sells before June buy us out of our lease. I understand the market is bad and all and there's no garuntee it will sell, but WTH does she expect us to do if the house sells???? That's great we get the extra $$ and all (actually, it would be really great, we pay $1300 a month) but we have NOWHERE to go. With a 9 month old. I know obviously we don't have to agree since we signed a one year lease and legally can't be forced to leave early, but I'm super stressed now because I feel like it's going to cause friction. We're trying to get into the buyers market right now, but haven't even been pre-approved yet (just took a home buyers course a couple weeks ago and have been getting stuff in order). She did offer to sell this house to us for 6 or 7 grand less than she wants to list it at, but considering nothing has been updated since it was built in the 50's and we watched her wall up a bunch of black mold in the bathroom when we complained about it, um, no thanks.
Ugh, after a really crappy night of sleep this was not what I wanted to wake up to.
Re: Excuse me, what??
Oh man that sux. I would say, get your docs together, but don't stress too much. It's winter, people aren't going out in the snow to house hunt necessarily.
And hopefully you guys find a great place to buy!

This. She better be prepared to let you guys out early, tit for tat and all that jazz.
The worst part I would think would be the 'showings', I hope she gives you really good notice for that kind of stuff. Also ditto it being winter and not as many people interested in moving in the cold weather.
