Here is another topic to get things going:
What is one thing you love about your job and one thing you hate about your job?
If you want to have more than one of each that is fine, BUT the likes must outweight the dislikes (lets try for optimism!!!)
Re: One thing about your job
Like: I get to be an entertainer as well as an educator
Dislike: My 52 mile commute
Like: I get to show kids things they think are "MAGIC!" then provide a really cool explanation
Dislike: The politics among my co-workers and admistrators
Like: All of the cool stuff I get to requisition and have because I am a science teacher
Like: That my niece thinks I am super cool because I do science experiments for my job
Like: That I teach a forensics class so it is okay to show CSI every once in a while
Like: the small school atmosphere where I know every child's name
Like: my co-workers even if they annoy me sometimes
Like: My class this year...they really are great kids
Dislike: being underpaid
Dislike: the lack of support from my boss
Like: I love the actual work that I do
Dislike: I dislike the fact that I do not receive any recognition for the work I do and the amount of things I do for others in the office. Like the fact that I have this afternoon off, but I am still working (and nesting hehe)
I have to stop here because at this point the dislikes outweigh the likes and you wanted optomism so im gonna stop here LOL
I like that a lot of people actually care. They are interested in what we do, how we're doing, and I truly enjoy talking to them.
I like that I know my job, and I know I'm good at it. I feel most confident when I'm at work, as I know that place better than anything else.
I DON'T like stupid people that like to complain about nothing. "OMG the price of your popcorn is crazy!" Guess what? It's a movie theatre. And you probably don't know that a huge portion of the box office goes right back to the movie companies. So that's how theatres - ALL THEATRES - make their money. I'm not forcing you to buy it. You can walk right on by.
I don't like the woman that comes in with her parrot because a doctor said it was okay. That's great that this bird calms you down. So does my cat. I would like to bring my cat with me wherever I go, too. Especially around you. So she can get your bird.
That is ridiculous! What doctor would write that note??!! Having a bird at work would put me on edge!!!
I like working with customers & being able to help solve issues for them.
I like the flexibility of being able to work from home a few days a week.
I like traveling once or twice per quarter, which is the perfect amount!
The only thing I really dislike is the commute on the days I do go into the office.

I actually love my job, the little girl I take care of is sweet and I love watching her learn and grow.
Dislike, I wish I got more hours and that I could utilize my degree more.
I might get flamed for this and I dont consider being a mom a job at all BUT...
I love being able to stay at home with L. The past year has been one of the most amazing times in my life. Watching her grow and learn has been awesome.
That being said, its also a very lonely time. Especially with the weather the way it has been. Its certainly been a learning experience BUT
I wouldnt trade it for the world. Every sacrifice we have made so I can stay home has been worth every moment.
Seriously, though! When she first came in, I very politely said, "Oh I'm sorry, we actually don't allow animals inside." And she shot back with, "I HAVE A DOCTOR'S NOTE!" I guess she talked to DH the day before, but I didn't know so I asked to see the note again. She got all mad, but whatever.
Then like 10 minutes later she came up to me and said, "You may want to rethink how you talk to people. I could've reacted badly to how you talked to me." I flat out said, "Ma'am, I did nothing wrong."
So now whenever she comes in, I just avoid her like the plague.
FWIW, I don't think a psychiatrist's note counts towards it being a "service animal." But whatever.
I like that when the weather is bad I get to stay home
I like that I will always have pretty much the same schedule as my kids
I like that I get to teach things I love
I like most of my kids this year
I like that we have a very caring and supporting faculty
I don't like the testing
I don't like the drama in our faculty
I don't like the lack of support at times from administration
I don't like the number of seniors who think they are done for the year and didn't bother to turn in their midterm...sorry you're getting an I which means you still have to do your budget project for me you just don't get points or you can see me again next year :-)
