Ways to advertise for a new business??

Mu husband recently opened a new business and I am looking for some good ( inexpensive) ways to advertise to get word around.  I did make a web page and had business cards made up.  Any other ideas would be great!!!

Thanks

  • Facebook

    Twitter

    Four Square

    Linked In

THey are all freeeeeeeeeee and lots of exposure :)

Otherwise, check out your local networking groups for good ways to spread the word, offer a discount here or there to get the business going and rely on word of mouth :). Good luck!

  • I agree with all of the above - and its always good to have a blog.  It helps SEO.  And also he should comment on other blog posts in the same industry and link back to his website.  That helps SEO as well and helps raise awareness that your business exists.
  • You may want to approach your local chamber of commerce, any local entrepreneurship organizations, local business incubators, etc. With this kind of company, a very large portion of the business you get will be via word of mouth, so you need to get networking for sure.

As for the web page and business cards, make sure they are of professional quality. Nothing kills a business's image faster than an amateurish identity package or website.

  • LinkedIn is a great way to freely advertise.  Lots of people are on their these days.  Link yourself to lots of folks then update your profile with business information.

Depending on what your business is, postcards are pretty useful, too.

  • Def check with your local chamber, also, TV and radio advertising isnt as expensive as you would think. Local ads arent as expensive as national ads, and you can get a pretty good reach. If you want to message me with information, I can help you come up with a few ideas.

  • I don't mean to be a drag, but there is a method to strategically communicating the new business; you don't want to just barf out ads in the hope that something will bite.  Define your audience and build a marketing and communications platform around those you want to reach.

This is a must. In most cases your local ad sales people will help you define this, but you also can hire an agency to do all of this for you. If you have great repore with a local sales media person, and they are willing to help you out with every medium you need and what is your best aproach.

  • Definitely take advantage of the free resources out there!
  • You've gotten incredible advice!  Good luck!
