Help convince me

Tomorrow is my office coordinators last day.  She accepted a position in the imaging department of the hospital.  A few of us had decided to go out to a local restaurant for drinks and appetizers after work tonight for a farewell thingy.

I want to go, but I'm feeling guilty about not going home and cooking supper for DH and Levi.  I haven't worked with her long and haven't gotten that "bond" with her that the other girls have...they've worked together for 4 years, I've been here 4 months.

I never really socialized with coworkers after hours...so why start now?  On the other hand, it'd be nice to have a "girls" night and not worry about DH and DS...but I know I'd just be waiting to get it over with so I could go home and play with Levi.

  • Is your H sick? Why would he not be able to handle making dinner and taking care of his son while you stay out for a couple of hours?

I say GO, have fun, it's good for you.

  • No he's not sick.  I just have him spoiled.  And he's always afraid to do something with Levi by himself...until he *has* to do it.

    I'm going.

  • I am not into work socializing but I think this is a good opportunity for you time! Plus good for your DH!

Agreed. Go enjoy yourself for a couple hours. Plus, you never know when those people could be in a position to help you out later in your career. I look at work socializing also as networking Smile

  • Why would you feel guilty? Give you Dh some alone time with your DS and enjoy yourself.  I"m sure he can handle dinner. I agree w/ PP that socializing at work is networking, and it's always important to forge relationships w/ your coworkers inside and outside the office.

  • Go, go GO! It's so important to get away and do some things for yourself once in a while. Trust me!

  • I went...had a sucky alcoholic drink...awesome loaded nachos and some deep fried cheesecake for dessert.  And a good time socializing.  When I got home, my MIL was there because DH got a fire call.
