What should I make?

We're having a wrap-up session from the precana classes tomorrow with all the married couples who participate in the program. We're ordering dinner but we're doing apps and dessert pot luck style. I've said I'd bring an appetizer.

I'm torn. My original plan was just to bring some cheesy spinach dip with some pita chips and call it a day. But then I found this receipe for baked spinach dip mini bread bowls. It's on this site: picky-palate.com (it's all of a sudden blocked at work so I can link directly to the recipe - the recipe should be on the main page if you scroll down a bit)

Anyway, which do I make? The regular spinach dip is super easy and I just make it in the crock pot. The mini bread bowls look super easy too (though probably more expensive to buy the ingredients).

Which one should I make?

Re: What should I make?

  • You can never go wrong with any kind of spinach dip.  I brought 2 different store-bought spinach dips to Christmas as the appetizer and everyone went to town on them (served them with Stacey's plain pita chips).

I think they actually look surprisingly easy to make, and might be a really fun twist on what is traditionally a really big hit for crowds.  I say go for the baked mini-bread bowls!

  • agree...go with the bread bowls! I may have to steal that from you ;)
  • if there are going to be about 20 people....how many should I make? I was going to double recipe already since it only makes 10 but now I don't know...

  • I'd triple or even quad the recipe if it only makes 10.  I like to be over-prepared, though.   Men might eat a lot, lol.  Better to have to much than too little.

  • hmmm I'm so bad at that kind of stuff, but I would triple it and make 30. I think with other appetizers and stuff that should be good.
  • Yum, those look good!  I would probably triple the recipe.  I am definitely bookmarking that recipe.  Although I would use defrosted frozen chopped spinach instead of fresh.  So much easier that chopping all that spinach!

  • Thanks ladies!! I think what I'm going to do is actually make the regular spinach dip for the party tonight since there is only 1 muffin tin at the house and I don't think I'll have enough time to make multiple batches. BUT, I am going to make one batch just for us to eat at the house....yum! I'll let you know how they turn out!
