What is everyone doing?

This board is pretty dead.. how is everyone? Any updates? What is keeping you busy?

Right now I'm studying for the PHR exam and enjoying married life. DH has been working non-stop for the past 10 days so he could use a day off pretty soon! We're debating going to St. Lucia in April for our "belated honeymoon." We have to double check a few things first though to make sure it's logistically possible.

I'm still trying to change my name everywhere.. I still have to change my student loans, car loan, car insurance and car registration.

Re: What is everyone doing?

  • I can't answer for everyone else, but I've been busy fighting constant nausea, morning sickness, afternoon naps, achey body pains, food aversions, stretching cramping, and feeling like sleeping 24/7. If I do get on, it's just to check on the bump for a minute and check my e-mail and school assignments. I wish I had more "awake" time in the day to keep up on everything, but right now it seems physically IMpossible. Hope everyone is enjoying their married life better physically than I am.

  • I get a new couch delivered Saturday!  It's on for the living room renovation.  I'm going to try and get window treatments figured out before we throw our annual "I hate winter party" in a couple of weeks. Now trying to figure out a paint color too.  We are going for a Mid-Century modern theme in the 1960s rambler.

Starting to plan a Vegas trip in a couple months too. Also DH got a surprise phone interview for  ajob he's been coveting for nearly a year. Hopefully he gets it as it would mean more money, more interesting challenges for him and way less overtime!

  • the weather around here has had me couped up and i'm very much ready to venture outside today! not much going on here in kansas other than enjoying the married life and getting settled into a routine we can call our own. we're ttc right now as well.
  • H and I are scouting for a new apartment.  We're hoping it's going to be our LAST before we own (one more year of saving and we should be able to afford a down payment on a house).  We're planning on spending the next year deciding which it's going to be: Connecticut or Massachusetts (for settling in)?

H started taking his EMT certification course in January; he completes it, and takes the test, in June.  I'm planning on finishing my second B.A. this year, probably in the fall.

The plan is to start TTC in May or June.  I can't wait.  I have baby fever like you wouldn't believe.

  • My mom's memorial is this weekend, so I've been spending most of my time doing things like talking to the caterer and the venue and forcing my aunt to reluctantly submit the obituary.  Actually, a lot of the work is just managing family members' different wants and needs.

I'll be really glad to move on from the memorial.  I know things will still be difficult, but it will be a lot of pain and work out of the way.

  • Between work and my grad classes I have been really busy. Last weekend was more low-key but I still had to spend most of it catching up on stuff around the house or homework. Wish I could be online more!
  • Bella, I love that living room set! DH and I have been looking at a new set for the living room for a few weeks now. I'll have to keep that set in mind

DH has been working about 70 hours a week since the last week of December. So, I've been picking up his chores around the house since I work 40. I figure with him working that much, plus his physically demanding job, it's the least I can do.

And, when I do have downtime, I really don't want to sit on the computer after spending the entire day at work staring at the computer screen. My eyes are so fatigued by the time I get home.

As far as plans go, DH and I are going up to his aunt and uncle's cottage this weekend to go snowmobiling with them. It should be a lot of fun and definitely is a much needed break for us. We're planning our belated honeymoon as well. DH is definitely going to need a nice, long vacation once the winter season at his work ends (hopefully only 4 more weeks).

i'm fairly new to this board, so i just wanted to extend my condolensces for the loss of your mother. i can't even imagine...i'll say a prayer tonight for your family and yourself. don't forget to take care of you in the midst of all this! :)

  • I'm still slowly unpacking in our new apartment but it is coming along and I love it here so far. We're just telling everyone about the pregnancy because MIL is dying to tell her family and once that happens I know it will be all over FB and I don't want my close friends to find out that way. I'm trying to get in the habit of cooking more in this new place since my kitchen is much nicer!

Oh and St Lucia is amazing! I want to go back SO BAD!!

  • I haven't been doing much at all.  It's the downtime right before I get busy at work, and yet I haven't been productive at all in my time off, which is frustrating.

I did help host a baby shower for a friend last weekend, and it turned out really cute.  We did a pink candy buffet, and it was a big hit.  It also fueled my baby fever, big time.  And, I found out that they upped her due date to 3 days after my birthday - I told her to step it up a little more and give me a good birthday present :D

Other than that... just dealing with the ice and snow.  I'm from Texas, we don't do this here!  I worked from home Tuesday, Wednesday, and today, and braved the road yesterday.  I was terrified driving home last night... mostly because of having so many cars near me on slick roads.  DH had to massage my shoulders when I got home because I spent a full hour tensed up, gripping the steering wheel - instead of my normal 15-20 minute drive home!

Oh!  And I also made an account on Good Reads, to help me keep track of the books I want to read on my Kindle.  If you're on there, lemme know!

  • We decided not to wait for the summer to start TTC, so we are starting this month.  Because of my medical history I'm not sure if we will have issues or not.  I've been doing the basal temps for over a week and started an ovulation kit today.  For you ladies who are doing/have done basal temps: how accurate did you find them to be?  My thing is that I work night shifts 3 nights a week so I switch from sleeping at night to sleeping during the day.  I know all of the guides for doing the temps say you have to do it at the same time everyday but that's just not possible with my schedule.

Also, my SIL left to join my BIL in Alaska last weekend (his job transferred him there).  We went back to Houston to help her pack up and sort through their stuff and say goodbye.  We are hoping to take a trip there this summer to go see them.

  • lol Robyn about still trying to change names! Same here. Don't know if I'll ever be done.

January was a lame month.  I was sick for half of it and the depressingly grey skies of Seattle were making me unmotivated.  But now I actually had motivation to work on some projects I said I would. Like posting our wedding items for sale and *start* working on all the wedding photo albums I'm giving out to family.

    Sorry temurlang.

Congrats to Manda and Faith and everyone who is pregnant!
