How do you get rid of shelf liner paper that's stuck on?

There are drawers in the new kitchen that have liner paper that's glued or stuck on (via sticker).

How do I get rid of it, it just doesn't peel off.

  • I got mine off with a paint scraper...kinda harsh, but effective.

  • I used a combination of a hair dryer, paint scraper, and Goo Gone.  It was a flippin' mess...I hope to never have to do that again!
  • How about a hand held steamer?  It works for wallpaper so maybe it would work for contact paper?

  • Scrape it up as best you can, scrub it clean and then line the drawer with non-sticky shelf liner and call it done. Out of sight, out of mind.

  • I spilled a bottle of nail polish remover and found out the wrong way that it will lift off my shelf paper.
  • I used a clothes iron on the cotton setting over a dish towel and got up 3 layers of paper in a pretty short time. I used the steam a little bit but I think it was the heat that really did the trick.
  • The Pampered Chef makes a neat little tool for this. I think its really to get stuck on food off but it works great for shelf paper too. Its a plastic square.
