I'm currently an Industrial-Organizational Psych student hoping to have a career in human resources. I recently joined the Society for Human Resource Management and noticed they offer The Assurance of Learning Exam for hr students. I'm not sure if it will be beneficial to take this exam or if having this certificate will be of any importance when I begin my job search. So I was hoping someone here may have some advice. Has anyone heard of this test, is it useful? What are your thoughts on it? TIA

Re: HR question
Never heard of it, and it wouldn't make a difference for me in hiring an entry level HR person if they had it, vs. someone else with an i/o psych degree or a management degree.
(source: i've been in HR for about 20 years, and have an SPHR)
Also an SPHR & CCP Cert person with 6 yrs experience.
I have not heard of it but looked it up and see it is new. I would assume they are creating it since they have changed the min requirements to take the PHR/SPHR exams this year. Its not too expensive....so I would consider it if you do not have the requirements to take the PHR/SPHR. Shows you have basic entry level HR knowledge and a committment to HR as a career path.
