Pumping question...
How often do you pump at work? Right now Lucie still isn't really on a schedule and will probably get confused again when she starts daycare in March but I think then I'll be able to figure out when she's eating and how much more than now.
I've been pumping 3x at week but only getting 3oz each time. I thought she should be eating like 5oz every 3 hours but with me she was eating about every 2 so I'm worried I may not be able to keep up with her.
How have you guys found it?
Re: Jess/Gina
I pumped first thing in the morning at 5:00 and could get 6-8 oz each side. Then I pumped once at work at 10:30 and would get another 4 or 5 oz each side. After work, I would either feed him or pump, depending on when he had last eaten at the sitter. I would nurse throughout the evening and pump before I went to bed. I was able to make enough for the next day and sometimes had enough left to add a bottle worth to the freezer stash. Chase eats more often when he nurses than when he takes a bottle. I think he gets less at once when he nurses.
Pumping is all about supply and demand. If your body thinks you need more, it will make more. If you're nursing in the evenings, pump when she is done eating. You may be able to get another couple of oz to save for the next day. Also, keep pumping on the weekend to get as much as you can.
Lucie's eating habits will change as she grows. She may eat like crazy during a growth spurt and then not eat much a different day. She will also start to eat more at once and eat less often, which gives you more times to pump and build your stash,
Good luck!
