Sanford/Alfred area ladies: Help!

I'm meeting with a client in Sanford/Alfred around 9AM some day in the not too distant future. I've googled the heck out of the area trying to find a cafe or other not Dunkin' Donuts place to have the meeting. Given that all of the places I've found don't have websites for me to see what they look like, I'm hoping you guys can give me some suggestions as to where is a good place to go.

So, any tips that you can share with me on this TGIF morning?

  • The Aroma Joes in downtown Sanford is pretty nice inside. It used to be an old bank, so you can sit inside the vault and stuff. There is also a little coffee shop in Waterboro called Waterways that is pretty good.

I'll let you know if I think of more ideas. Or if you have any place in mind I can probably let you know what it's like.

  • Hmm...there's not much around here that's open breakfast hours.  I agree with Sarah -- Aroma Joe's in downtown Sanford is your best option.

If you were looking to eat, Christo's Place has a decent diner-type breakfast but the atmosphere leaves much to be desired.  The inside looks like it was decorated in the '80s and never updated.

I've never been inside Mel's Raspberry Patch, but it always has a lot of cars in the parking lot.  I get the impression that it's similar to Christo's Place -- a popular breakfast hang out for the retired set.

Yeah I would skip Mel's. Breakfast is okay, but the service and decor are less than great. There is also a new breakfast place in Waterboro called Lo & Shell's which is pretty good, but can be busy.

  • I'll look at Aroma Joes again. Everything that I found said that they were drivethrus and never mentioned anything about having an actual place to sit. I had found a nice looking place in Alfred but, of course, they aren't open for breakfast on Saturdays.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Yeah, I think all of the others are drive thrus, but the one on Washington St has a cafe. If you go on their website and click on that location's icon on the map you can see a tiny picture.
