I recently applied to a local school district for an open position that I had heard about. I heard about it through a friend that works for the district, and it was a quick vacancy due to a sudden retirement. They had asked for the web based application to be filled out by 1/13, for the position to be filled 1/31. I completed the application on time and I also forwarded them my resume, letters of recommendation, certification etc.
Fast forward to last Thursday 1/27 where they called and requested writing samples from me ((3 letters of recommendation written BY me (I'm a guidance counselor) and a sample lesson plan as their counselors spend alot of time in the classroom))
To make a long story short, I guess I want some advice...do I call them? WIth all the snow we've been having it just might be that they havent been in school to review the documents from the applicants, or do I just let it go and keep waiting. I just feel that if they asked for a writing sample, that they had to have atleast LIKED my application and documents?
Thanks in advance if you got this far ![]()

This. It's best to make sure they received what you sent them.
I hadnt seen aegrish's comment before lunch so I gave him a call to check in to make sure he recieved all my documents since I hadnt had confirmation. He said that the scheduling process was taking a bit longer, but that they're looking at thursday/friday next week and when he schedules them I'll be getting one
