Recommend your car/home insurance, please...

You may remember my introduction to this board just less than a month ago...moving here from Chicago, previously Indianapolis and originally from Michigan!

Regardless, we had a wildly successful day yesterday and purchased both a car and a home!!! Now, I need to get insurance, specifically auto ASAP...

Anyone shopped rates before and found the cheapest? Anyone LOVE their agent?

P.S. - we bought in Lakeville, near the AV border.

Thanks!

  • Katy with Farmers Insurance.  651-437-5031.  She will come to you!

If you do call her, tell her Kari and Mollie referred you.  She will know who I am if you refer to Mollie too.  : )

  • We use State Farm.  It was the best deal I could find when I switched from our previous insurance last year.  We have auto, house and life insurance with them.  I like my agent, but she is pretty far from Lakeville.  Good luck and congrats!

  • We are also with State Farm and we really like them.  We use Brian Busch in Burnsville.

  • Here's another vote for State Farm. Ours is sort of far from Lakeville though.

  • We just switched our insurace to AAA on the 1st.  DH had everything with State Farm for years but we were able to save $900 a year by switching.  We love our agent, but he's my cousin so maybe I'm biased.

  • We just switched to AAA as well and saved around $1,000!  I've had a AAA membership for years too - definitely worth it.
  • I love, love, love my agent. Sue Challenger (952-898-1400) in Lakeville. She's with Allstate. I've been with for 15+ years. She's great. Very knowledgeable and very, very nice. Not pushy either.

  • Thanks everyone for the suggestions. By the way, I called Katy @ Farmers (I was with Famers in MI, had a good experience)...then called AAA.

I had always heard how affordable AAA can be; and it rang true!

FYI - AAA was 1/2 the price of Farmers for the car and about 30% less on the home (difference of over $1,000). I called Dan Trost in Burnsville office at 952.707.4924

I wanted to share this with you all since you helped me out!
    Have a great weekend!

  • Did you get a quote from The Hartford as well? They were the most affordable when I combined my home and car insurance with them. Service is good too.
