Favorite place for dinner?
Just looking to stir some conversation.. as well as find new places that have yummy foods! I'm looking for more of the "if you didn't live in this town, you wouldn't know how amazing their food is" type-places.
So.. what's your local hidden gem? And what food do you rec I get if I go??
Re: Favorite place for dinner?
I'm in Hammonton, and our gem is "Fiesta Mexicana" It's authentic Mexican food, it's absolutely delish! It's owned and operated by actual Mexican families.. it's not commercial or chain AT ALL!
Recs:
Start with their chips & salsa that they give on the table; steer slear of the red salsa unless you like that fire-roasted heat flavor. Ask for an additional cup of the green salsa (salsa verde) it's absolutely awesome and I don't care what you get for a meal, you'll wana dip it in the salsa verde too!
Dinner should be the chicken toquitos. So good. They make their own pico de gallo that they come with, and guac and sour cream.. and they are amazing!! Taquitos are chicken and cheese rolled up in a fried tortilla. They do have a steak option, but trussstttt meee the chicken is WAY better!
Dessert should be milkshake.. with eggs. Trust me.
Find our gem and enjoy this banging Mexican food!
SgtM has great taste in food. A friend gave me a g.c. for Cotardo's last year for my birthday and it was awesome. I wanted to marry their bread. Filomena's also has really good Italian.
Mmm, Mexican Food Factory is so good. I also like Los Amigos on 73 in Berlin for Mexican.
Whenever they do the South Jersey Restaurant Week we usually try out someplace new and haven't been disappointed.
Irish reminded me of the places we've eaten during Restaurant Week...the High Street Grill and Robin's Nest in Mt. Holly and Catelli's are fabulous. Get the goat cheese salad at the Robin's Nest.
ETA: And Gagan Indian Restaurant in Lindenwold.
I love Catelli's lobster bisque. That's the one place we go just about every restaurant week and some special occasions. Got engaged there actually.
We've also done restaurant week at Scaturro's, Tre Famiglia in Haddonfield, and someplace else in Collingswood I can't remember right now. Lamberti's is usually on there too.
ooo lots of places I've heard of, but never tried!
That reminds me, I always miss Restaurant Week, or find out that last day or so. How can I find out sooner when this is coming up so I can plan to participate??
Google South Jersey Hot Chefs. They have a few "Restaurant Weeks" every year and they also have a list of the restaurants that participate.
We just tried Dublin Square last night and it was good. It's where Swanky Bubbles used to be.
I also forgot to mention Casa Carollo's on 73 and Main Street Pub in Voorhees. No wonder I needed to go on WW, just look at how much we go out to dinner.
I LOVED Swankys and was so upset to hear it's gone. I'm happy to hear the replacement place is good though! I'll have to give it a try.
Madison Cafe in Riverside is yummy. When you walk inside you feel like you're in a restaurant in the city, Don't Call Me Francis plays there a lot which is fun (they are going to play at my wedding in September
)
Bacio in Cinnaminson is delicious too. And The New Leaf Tea Room in Riverton is adorable!!! This is more of a brunch/lunch place but it's worth visiting if you haven't.
