Re: Fruitcake friday
What a moron!!! I think pot is a HUGE problem in our society, especially for high schoolers. Up here in MA, it's legal to have amounts less than an ounce (I think that's the right amount). Anyway, I know some kids who have been pulled over, had a joint in their ashtray and didn't get in trouble. Something seems wrong with that.
Oh my gosh, people are so dumb!! Did he really think they wouldn't send cops to his house??
I agree with iburkey about it being a problem. My younger brother is a recovering addict, and it all started with marijuana (that was actually his "drug of choice"). He actually spent the weekend of his high school graduation in the county jail for getting pulled over with it in his car. That was in 2008. He just hit a year clean in November. People think marijuana isn't a big deal and isn't an addictive drug. My brother went to rehab 3 or 4 times before he finally was able to stay away from it. He couldn't drink on his 21st birthday because he is on probation and in a program - and drinking is a violation of that. He had a hard time finding a job because until his probation is up, he has a felony. (It will become a misdemeanor if he finishes his probation.) Because of that, he has to list it on every job application.
His addiction effected our entire family. I really honestly thought until about March of last year that my brother would be in jail on my wedding day. Thankfully, he is doing amazing now. Clean, working 30 hours a week and going to school. He wants to join the military in the Spring when his probation is finally over. But there were several years that I was convinced he would never be able to turn it around. I don't think people realize how big of a problem pot really is.
