(sorta) confession: I couldn't care less about the superbowl
I don't follow pro sports. None of them. Not since the baseball strike. Which was... what, 15 years ago?
I knew it was coming up, but if I didn't have FB, I wouldn't even realize it was this weekend (it is, right?).
It took me a few minutes to figure out why people were wearing football jerseys at work today, even if it is jeans day (because it's Sunday, right?)
I only know who's playing because someone said "Don't tell me you're wearing green because you're a Packers fan?" and someone else assumed I was a die hard Bengals fan because I said I didn't care about the Steelers. So... Steelers & Green Bay, right?
Re: (sorta) confession: I couldn't care less about the superbowl
I hate sports. However, I will confess that this year, we're watching the SB. (For me, I'm only doing it b/c I get to spend time w/ our friends that we haven't seen for a month or so and I love hanging out w/ them.) Even if we're watching football. H likes it, but he also doesn't go out of his way to root for a team, or to watch a game of any kind.
I can't tell you how many people over my lifetime have tried to explain football, for example, to me. I just.don't.get.it. Period. It doesn't make any sense and I could care less. I don't know what I would do if H was really into sports. It would drive me bonkers.
I like the concept of football. I loved playing football on the nintendo when I was a kid. I've entertained the notion of trying out for the Cincinnati women's football team (YES - there is such a thing - the Cincinnati sizzle.) I loved playing football in gym and the annual powder puff tournament at my first college.
However, I'm not a fan of watching any sports on tv. I have no attention span for it. I'll watch sports in person because there's the environment and the hot dogs and beer. Sports on tv are bleh. BUT...I watch the super bowl every year because it's tradition. And because it's an excuse to eat nachos and wings and drink beer. And because I'm more interested in the commercials. And if it gets boring, I'll end up doing something else. (One particularly boring year, I was at a party that turned into a poker game instead!)
LMFAO at this flashback to Techmo Bowl, and also because I told C YEARS ago that I wanted to try out for the Sizzle and he thought I was joking. I totally wasn't, but it never materialized.
I do LOVE watching sports, though, especially baseball and football. I just hate both of these teams about equally.
