breast milk question

If I thaw breast milk that has been frozen for a few months and use some to mix with his cereal can I refrigerate the rest for 24 hours and use it again to mix with his cereal the next day? I would toss whatever is left after that.  thanks :)  Right now I am throwing what is left over away but it is A LOT of wasted milk!

Re: breast milk question

  • I would've, but I've been known to break the rules often.

Bottom line is: breast milk is milk.  When it's gone bad, you can smell it.

  • I would use it too.  Maybe all the good stuff in it won't be as perfect as when it was fresh, but it's not going to hurt him and is still going to be nutritious.  I agree with MM - you'll know when it's bad, and so will Liam!

ETA: I checked on kellymom, and it also says it's good to pop back in the fridge and re-use within 24 hours.
