Checking In (Sad News Included - Long)

Between my trip to Clemson and traveling for work I haven't been posting much but I have been trying to follow. It's been a busy week on the board.

I know there's been some good news (congrats Sikes!) and some sad news (I'm really sorry about your grandpa Ashley) so although I haven't commented I've been sending out thoughts to everyone and I'm sorry if I'm leaving anyone out.

This week has been particularly rough around our house. Yesterday we found out that my mom most likely has MS. While it will be nice to have an answer to her health issues, it's still daunting. I'm trying my best to stay positive. We also found out that DH's grandma had a mini stroke and minor heart attack a few weeks ago. She's had them in the past but it's still scary.

Finally, to top it all off, we got a call today that one of my dad's oldest friends (he was a groomsman in my parents' wedding), lost his battle with colon cancer at the age of 51. He was terminal so we knew it would happen eventually but it was somewhat sudden. He left behind an 18 year old daughter and I just keep crying thinking of what she must be going through. My heart just aches for her. At least he's no longer in pain. If I could get some nestie Ts & Ps that his family gets through this time and finds some peace I'd appreciate it. While I'm sad about my mom, and worried about DH's grandma, we're lucky enough to still have them in our lives so I'm trying my best to focus on that and send my love to Pete's family right now.

Now that I've wrote the world's most depressing post, I hope everyone is well and that you all have a good weekend.

  • Thanks for the all the kind words ladies. I really appreciate it. My dad is so sad and I think this is hitting him especially hard considering his own health struggles.

Thanks for sharing your mom's story. The diagnosis is not confirmed yet so we're trying to keep an open mind and stay positive. Once we know more we can move forward.

  • Sending lots of T&P's.  My FIL has MS so my DH and I know firsthand how daunting it is to watch a loved one go through that.  If your mom does in fact have MS, I would highly recommend researching CCSVI (there's a great page for that on Facebook with constant updates).  My FIL recently had the procedure done, and he's doing great!  (Much better than he ever did on all those expensive medications).

Thank you for the information. If her diagnosis is confirmed I'll definitely check that out. I'm glad to hear that your FIL has made positive strides!
