I have been trying for 2 days to reply to your PM! It won't let me send it, or gives me a server error!! I would love any information you have!

What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!

Re: **lizzyb**

  • Oh, the PMs have been nutty lately. We can chat here, or give me your email and we can try that. Wichita falls is a great place to raise a family, but it does lack many of the amenities we're used to around okc. What questions do you have??

  • Mostly what to do, where to eat, etc. I will be working at United Regional. I sort of get the feeling that's not the best area of town though. Also, if you have any info on the best way to find a daycare. I've tried the internet, nothing, and the phone book is overwhelming! Also, if you have suggestions on which part of town is best to live in. We are in an apartment now, but will be looking for a house to rent soon. Thanks a ton!

  • Yeah, you don't want to live by the main United Regional. Not the best part of town. Below are neighborhoods I would look into for renting, assuming you're working at the main hospital. These are areas that I know have frequent rentals open.

--the area east of Weeks Park golf course

--neighborhood called Brook Village bordered by Harrison St. on the west, Bridwell on the east, Kell on the north, and Speedway on the south (this area can get shady towards the eastern portion)

--neighborhoods to the east of Kemp and south of Midwestern Parkway

--area south of Kell, between Barnett and McNeill has some neighborhoods that might have rentals. Easy access to Kell=quick commute for you

There are also tons of areas further west, but that's farther away from amenities and the hospital. I grew up in the older parts of WF, and the west is newer, so I don't know it as well.

Entertainment: movie theaters, mall, bookstores, Midwestern State University events, high school sports, not near as much to do there as OKC area. There is a community theater, symphony, etc.

Dining: My favorites are Napoli's, Pasqual's, Samurai, Sakura Sushi, SalaDeli. There's lots of chain restaurants.

Daycare: I'm not much help with this. Maybe check with some of the major churches in town and see if they have daycare programs? If you all are church goers, I can suggest churches, too.

Feel free to page me anytime! I'll probably forget to check this thread, so that's the best way to find me. I check the boards every day. I'm happy to help.
