2 year old birthday gift?!

hey all...here is a post without drama! yay!

I just have a question for anyone with toddlers....what do 2 year old girls like/want? my friend's kiddo is turning two and I won't be able to be there for the party but wanted to maybe send something for her? any suggestions? THANKS!

Re: 2 year old birthday gift?!

  • I suggest a savings bond.

How much stuff do 2 year olds need? A savings bond is much more useful than a stuffed animal or some other toy.

  • If she's like my 2 year old, she has more gifts than she can play with. A card and a check with a note "for college fund" would be perfect.

My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.
  • If you want to do a "real" gift, my two year-olds got tea sets that they LOVE to use.

  • I'm another vote for savings bond or a check for a college fund.
  • Dress up clothes.  Keep it simple at that age (just a tutu type skirt, purse, etc) b/c although they LOVE dress up at that age, they aren't capable of dressing themselves and lots of dresses are too long.

Also a big hit (for boys and girls) - step stools with their name in a puzzle.  Kids that age love puzzles and they will eventually need a step stool to brush their teeth, wash their hands, etc.

I like to give savings bonds too, but always include a gift the kids can open.

    Low cost options:

puzzles (wooden, not anything they can rip apart),

    umbrella

tote bag for ballet things or library books

  • A board book or two would be a good gift.
Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Lilypie Second Birthday tickers
  • My daughter's favorite gift was this kicka$$ bath toy.  It's like a mini fountain with different sprinkler tops.  I'll try to find it online and post a link.  It rocks!!

    Yay! Found it!

  • Thanks ladies! I love all the suggestions!
  • If she has a lot I would check out something that is more geared towards a learning store
  • I have given Fisher Price Snap and Style dolls as 2nd bday gifts to several girls. They are chunky dolls and the clothes snap onto the dolls.    It's always been a big hit.  All of my friends remember having a similar toy back in the 80's.

I was going to suggest this too.  My dd got two of these on her second birthday and she just loves them.  She can sit and play with them for an hour at a time.

  • Books.  DD has a lot of toys.  Her favorite toy is the Leapfrog My First Leaptop, but Leapfrog is a pretty popular brand, so the birthday girl might already have one.
