What questions should the interviewee ask?

I do my research on the company, so I have a bit of background information about them. But when they ask if I have any questions, what should I ask?

Re: What questions should the interviewee ask?

  • Why is the job open (turnover or company expanding)

    What's a typical day like

What's the supervisor's management style (regular check-ins or only if there are issues on either side)

    How are reviews handled

A lot of the questions will arise from whatever happens in the interview that you want to ask about

  • I asked in a recent interview, "What qualities do you value in a team member?" and the interviewer said she was impressed with the question.

I also ask about company culture.  If the person interviewing me will be my boss, I ask about management style. I ask them to describe a typical work day. I ask what drew my interviewer to want to work for the company.

  • Those are great help! I'm glad this was posted because I'm starting the job search pretty soon.

    Thank you Ladies!

  • Some of my key questions are:

-What do you expect of the person who fills this position in the first 30 days? 90 days?

-What are the key qualities of the people you consider "top performers" on your team?

-What reservations do you have about hiring me? (This gives you the opportunity to squash any issues they might have with hiring you right then and there.)

    -Ask about the company culture.

-Then, I usually ask some specific industry questions relating to the job so they can see that I have a curiosity for what I'd be doing as well as an overall knowledge of my field.
