early 90's party

So I am throwing an "early 90's Party" next weekend.  I am trying to come up with clever food ideas.  This is what I have so far:

"Salt and Peppa" triscuits with cream cheese dip
"Motown Philly" Steak and Cheese Spring Rolls
Vanilla ice Ice Baby cake
Island "oasis" punch
Rico Suave Salsa Dip
Snoop Doggy Dogs in a Blanket
"Nirvana" Trifle
"Just Kick It" Buffalo Chicken

May also do english muffin pizzas (perhaps bbq chicken or hawaiin) and maybe some great processed cheese products like cheese curls and doritos.

any other ideas? You ladies are creative.

Re: early 90's party

  • Hilarious!

Music wise, the first things I though of were Baby Got Back/Sir Mix-A-Lot.  Maybe a Sir-Mix-A-Lot cocktail?

What about Meat Loaf cocktail meatballs?

Or something with Mariah Carey, she was so early 90s... ooh, what about "Hero" sliders?  there's a really good ham and cheese slider recipe floating around out there...

Ace of Base - "All that she wants" is another pizza Stick out tongue

  • hmm, i like the sir mix a lot idea.  i wonder if i can incorporate buns into something like sliders "You got buns hun" sliders

and the hero thing is great.

i was thinking of green day too.  maybe a green day pizza with spinach and basil?

  • that sounds like a fabulous party... I swear between us all we could run a serious party planning website. We have some that cook, some that style and others that decorate! I love it!
  • Awww I want to come! Great ideas. I love the hero and Sir Mix A Lot suggestions too. When I think of Ace of Base, I immediately think "All that she wants is another baby." You could do baby portabella and spinach pizzas. I also think of NKOTB immediately, but my creativity is failing me this morning, and I can't think of anything that fits them.
