Valentine's Day Plans

So Valentine's Day is rapidly approaching and I was wondering what everyone was going to do for their first Valentine's Day as a married couple.  Is your husband planning the whole thing?  Are you helping plan?  Are you buying presents? Etc, etc.  I am still looking for ideas for what to do so any help would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Re: Valentine's Day Plans

  • I think just cards and dinner at home.....money's slightly tight....as much as i'd like something shiny or flowers or something....

our first valentines day was AWESOME....he made me all my favorite foods :) it was cute :)

  • We are probably going to go out to dinner somewhere, but nothing too expensive. I got him a card and something small. Valentine's Day never has been a favorite holiday of mine. Keepin' it simple.

  • I don't think we are doing anything.  We are going out for a fancy dinner tomorrow night instead.  The reason?  It will be exactly 100 days since we were married!  Yep...we are total dorks!

  • Silver lining to Ross getting fired is that he used to close every Monday night.  So I got my husband back for Valentine's Day :)  Which means we get to return to our VDay "tradition" of take out Asian food and a movie.

We agreed to no gifts, but I'm secretly hoping he gets me this necklace:

But that's totally just wishful thinking.

  • This is actually going to be the first valentine's day that we celebrate in the almost 8 years we have been together as our dating anniversary will be on the 20th and we just didn't see the point!

DH is taking it upon himself to plan the whole night... should be interesting as he is not a planner!

  • I have to fly up to San Francisco on Valentine's Day (thanks, work!), so we're doing cards for each other in the morning, and nothing else.  I'm kind of at the point that we spent so much on the wedding and honeymoon, plus Christmas that we don't need to do a lot for V-Day this year.  Add to it that both our birthdays are next month... A card will do nicely :)

  • Just cards for us. (Oh, and I am getting a small gift "yours + mine")

  • We usually do a nice dinner out and small gifts. He always gets me flowers, (but like supermarket flowers, because I tell him they're going to die anyway, so don't spend oodles of $$), and the heart-shaped box of Reeses peanut butter cups.*  But we never go out to dinner on the 14th, as it's usually super crowded. This year, we are flying back from FL on valentine's day, so it's take out and wine on Monday, and we're hoping to go out on Tuesday night.

    * I told him on like our 3rd date that I always swore I would marry the guy who got me the giant heart shaped box of Reeses.  He bought them for me that valentine's day, 4 months in to our relationship. I said, "you know what that means, right?"  And he said, "yup."

  • We're not doing anything too exciting either.  DH thinks that Vday is a bogus holiday (which I can see somewhat, but not as much as Sweetest Day).

We said we'd do cards and no gifts.  So I got him a card, a cute little bulldog sucker (usually we give each other bulldog cards but this year I can't find any! Besides the one I gave him last year), and also Modern Family Season 1 on dvd...something we've both said we want to get into watching.  It's pretty lame and really a gift that we'll both use, but with my Amazon living social, I paid $19 instead of the full-price $40.

We're hoping to go out to the new BYOB Italian place near us, but we tried this weekened and it was crazy busy, so who knows if we'll get it (they don't take reservations).

I'm also taking DH on a surprise trip to Pleasure Chest this weekend for some fun new gear we can pick out together.

  • We will be in Jamaica and since my birthday is the 12th we usually just do cards. Which reminds me that I need to get a card still!! So much to do and no time to do it!!

  • We are celebrating on the weekend with tickets to a dinner and concert in an old barn north of town. The muscian is the one whose CD he played as the guests were arriving. DH said it was that guys songs that made him realize he was in love with me. So it will be special. I have never heard him in person. Plus I got a "Husband" V-day card. First time I have ever done that.

As stated in a previous post, DH bought red roses last week as they were cheaper than close to V-day. They still look nice and I got to enjoy them during our ice/snow day friday.
