Foster Dog Is Here!

Well, the foster pup Miles has arrived...I don't have pics yet because the battery is dead on my camera.

In any case, we did the introduction very slowly and it was a little rocky at first.  Popeye was not thrilled with Miles being in "his" yard, or house, but he honestly became indifferent relatively quickly.  They haven't really warmed up to each other yet, but they are both just laying here peacefully, ignoring each other, so I am fine with that.  I think it will be a tough adjustment, but I expected that, so no surprise. We are being sure to give Popeye pets, and food, and attention first, and Miles second, so as not to upset the established pack order.  I think Popeye feels reassured, and Miles isn't challenging anything.

I will keep you all posted, and hopefully post pics soon. :)  And I will probably need more advice!

Lots of love and continual explosions of babydust to my BG Besties! XOXOXOXO

Re: Foster Dog Is Here!

  • My dogs didn't love each other right away.  They ignored each other for about a week and then all of a sudden they were in love and now they snuggle and wrestle all the time.  It melts my heart into a puddle of goo on a daily basis!

Any chance you'll be a "foster failure" and keep Miles?

    Pictures please!!!  :-)

  • Ugh. The boys are wrestling already, and right now they are curled up next to each other on the floor.  I think Miles is really trying to win Popeye over. I have really been impressed with how patient Popeye has been.....he even let Miles drink out of his water dish and visit his kennel.  We corrected Miles and directed him to his OWN dish and kennel, but I was still happy that Popeye didn't try to Alpha roll him when Miles went for HIS stuff.

The good news is that we can't "foster fail" because it is pretty much official that my friend will be adopting him.....but we still might have him for awhile because they are moving.  So right now I am just considering it dog-sitting.....it helps me (so far) to not get too attached. :)

    I will post pics soon!
