Your favorite Super Bowl commercial?
I didn't really watch the game, but caught up on the commercials last night. I heard they weren't that good this year and I'm afraid I agree... A lot of them were kind of lame.
But I did really like the Pepsi commercial with the jogger 
And the one with the Darth Vader kid (though I had seen that before the Super Bowl).

I was shocked at all the car commercials and movie trailers.
the lamest commercial goes to Chevy-really?!?! You need FB in your freakin car?!?!?
I thought some of the lamest were the Groupon commercial making light of Tibet, and the Mini commercial - something about "stuff your boot??" Dumb.
This times 1 million. The only one that I liked was the Darth Vadar kid. Otherwise I was totally unimpressed.

The Groupon commercial was tasteless and I think they could've done it better w/o involving Tibet.
I actually liked the Detroit one as one of the better ones...I thought it actually kinda of made me want to go to Detroit. But I like Eminem, so maybe that's why.
I agree with Chevy...seriously, we already are addicted to smart phones, and do we really need to hear FB feeds while driving?

I think the biggest hit at the party was the Groupon one...that got the biggest laugh. Hmmm...oh and the sitcom montage was a hit too.
Overall, they were fine. I think we are getting more discriminating about the commercials and I think there are such good ones throughout the year, the comparison is weaker.
Did you see the one with Elizabeth Hurley and deforestation but it was really about Brazilian waxing? FUNNY. I just take it all with a grain of salt...It's not like that commercial changes the issues in Tibet-They've been around forever. Plus I have a sick sense of humor.
Agreed. Aside from the fact that it was completely tasteless and tries to take advantage of the suffering of a huge group of people to make money, I just didn't think it was very a funny or creative idea.
I also don't get at all why the Chrysler/Detroit commercial is so popular? It's being called one of the best commercials from this year's Super Bowl (which isn't that hard I guess considering what they were up against). I really did not think it was anything special. I also find it odd that a car company that had to be bailed out by the federal government recently is spending so much money to run a commercial during the Super Bowl. I'd like them to pay that money back to the government first.
Also interesting that they're capitalizing on this whole "made in America," "imported from Detroit" concept - I guess trying to appeal to those who love American cars - even though a lot of "import" cars these days are actually partially if not completely made in the U.S. And did you know that Chrysler is actually owned in part now by an Italian company, Fiat?
OK I'm done nerding out about this one.
i liked the doritos/cheetos (whatever it was) where the guy licked the other guy's finger, and the one where grandpa was brought back from the dead by sprinkling them on the spilt cremains. i also liked the lassie truck one.
overall, i thought the commercials were pretty bad. i hated the imported from detroit one, i thought it was terrible. and talk about worst half time show ever - egad! just when i thought it couldn't get worse, it did.
i was totally appalled by the pepsi jogger one. if the roles had been reversed and it was a man being that violent towards his wife would anyone have thought it was funny?
Dammit, now I feel guilty...
I think the Groupon one was absolutely crass and totally unfunny. Commercials like that one are exactly what the world thinks about the US.
Overall, I realized while watching the commercials that I've hit an age where I'm no longer within the age group of the target audience and it shows. I did really like the Doritos one with finger lick, but thought it went too far with the pants. It really did not need the extra shock value. I also liked the car one that was narrated by the writing team and ends with the driver being a teacher.
I missed anything shown in 3rd qtr, as I take my annual nap then

I think my fave was the House-sitter Doritos one where the guy sprinkles Doritos crumbs to revive fish/plant/grandpa.
I liked the deforestation/brazillian wax Groupon one. With every Groupon commercial they totally fooled me into thinking it was going to be a serious commercial. I can totally understand people saying they are horribly insensitive... but in the end I found it funny so I'm just being honest here.
I liked the VW one with the bettle scurrying through the forest like a car commercial. Not so much because it was clever but because it was cute.
I liked the "Miss Evelyn" adveritising pitch commercial for the Chevy Camero. Car speeding through the desert... driven by a hot chick... then a crazy action sequence... oh and she's a teacher on her way to class.
