Fit Chickies

What's up for the week?

Re: Fit Chickies

  • If I can stop sneezing long enough to run tonight, I need to get to the gym!  This cold is just draaagging on.  Ugh.  Tomorrow and Thursday I will be at the gym as well, Ab Ripper video Wed. and Fri. mornings before work, and then I need to do a long run on Sat. or Sun.

Food wise ... I don't have a menu planned for the week but I have some tofu I need to use, some green beans I'll probably steam, chicken breasts and rice, and I got Special K Red Berries on sale 2 for $5 so that's breakfast for a while!

  • I didn't exercise at all last week because of the flu.  I am REALLY looking forward to getting back at it tonight!

Food wise - I'm not sure.  I had a number of meals lined up but do to an explosion of sparkling wine in my fridge yesterday, I lost some items and need to replan dinners based on what is left over.  Plus, MH's birthday is on Wednesday so we'll either go out or he'll ask me to make something unhealthy. ;-)  Breakfast will be cereal or peanut butter banana bread.  Lunches are pitas with hummus, radishes, cucumbers, peppers, and red onion.  Snacks include homemade chex mix, baby carrots, grapes, dried fruits, and granola bars.

  • After an awesome hike yesterday and the milder weather, I'm feeling renewed.  Hoping to get a run in when I get home today.  I hope the weather continues to cooperate because I'd really like to get more runs in this week.  Especially with that 5K in a month!   I also just got my Jillian 6 week 6 pack in the mail so I'm dying to try that!   :)

jgreg - MY birthday is Wednesday, too!  : )   I'm really hoping there's an ice cream cake in my future.

As far as meals go, Turkey BLT's on wheat with Kale chips, chicken with steamed kale and rice pilaf, grilled cheese and tomato soup for busy Thursday night, and I'm going to try making a tuna casserole for the first time this week.  We'll see.  Not sure what Joe is planning for my bday Wednesday.  All I ask is that someone else make dinner and clean up while I enjoy a glass of wine and hang with Nolan.

  • This weekend got me back in the spirit too! I went for a run and a snowshoe yesterday and was feeling great, tired but great!

I plan to do a DVD workouts on Wednesday and Thursday and go for a run on Saturday. I plan to play some Wii Fit or Just Dance on the other evenings as well.

For meals, I premade a bunch of stuff yesterday because I have a hectic week. Tonight is chicken enchiladas, tomorrow is chili, will also make a pizza and tacos w/ ground turkey and have a leftover night at some point.

  • I agree with Annie- this mini heat surge is doing wonders for my motivation! Now if only the ice would finally melt off the sidewalks so I can actually get out for walks!

Workouts: I was well behaved again this weekend (so much easier when DH is out to sea! Stick out tongue) and did my Long & Lean on both days. I'm taking tonight off as per usual, and then will be back on my Tues/Weds/Thurs with a rest on Friday, and then back on Sat & Sun.

Food: Weekend wasn't too bad, all things considered. I caved to my craving and had a couple of cooked sushi rolls & miso soup on Friday, stuck w/ steel cut oatmeal w/ apples, walnuts & maple for breakfast, and salad lunches. Sunday night I treated myself to a Superbowl Subway, and it was soooooo good! The rest of the week I'll be doing cereal and apple breakfasts, soup or salad lunches, and whatever I can scare up for dinner- plenty of fresh veggies, Boca burgers, eggs and I did get myself a tiny little steak to sear off at some point!

  • I feel like I did really well last week with diet and exercise, and the scale is not rewarding me!  It's very frustrating, because the weight came off so easily when I've done WW.  Last Monday I dropped my calories to 1450 daily hoping that would help see more of a change, but the scale hasn't budged.   I did splurge on Sunday and didn't track, but the rest of the week I tracked everything, exercised daily with either 30 DS, walking/jogging on treadmill, and pilates videos.  I am losing some inches, so obviously something is helping, but I just miss the satisfying feeling of seeing the numbers drop on the scale.    I don't know if it's because I'm exercising more than I ever did before, or my calories need to be lower??  Oh well, I'll keep at it!

Food: I made a pasta fagioli soup on Saturday, a ham, asparagus, and egg noodle bake on Sunday, and we'll have those leftovers today and tomorrow.  Wednesday and Thursday we'll have Sesame Chicken  and Pork Tenderloin out of the freezer.  Lunches will be leftovers and Lean Cuisine/Healthy choice things.  Breakfast is cereal and milk. Snacks are fruit, string cheese, yogurts.

  • Oh, how I was praying that this post would not show up this week!

I was terrible with food again last week.  However, even with the work function that I had on Friday night, candy-making on Saturday, and the Superbowl on Sunday,  I managed to lose a pound.  I am not sure how that happened, but I am not going to complain.

For exercise this week, I will do my usual five days of cardio and three days of strength training.

For food, I think I have some good stuff on tap...

Breakfasts: The usual Multigrain Cheerios with skim milk and coffee with Coffeemate.

Lunches:  Today I had half of a leftover turkey sandwich with avocado and provolone, a few appetizer-sized pieces of sun-dried tomato and pesto french bread pizza, and a homemade peanut butter cup (OK, so not so good).  Tomorrow and Wednesday I will have banh mi bruschetta and a piece of homemade chocolate, and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday I will have Brianne's tuna pasta salad with spinach and radishes and a piece of homemade chocolate.  Sunday we are going to brunch in Portland for Valentine's Day and I will probably have eggs benedict.  I also plan to try a cupcake from Tulips Cupcakery when we walk around the Public Market afterward.

Dinners: Make Thyme for Dinner selections including Pasta Chili Cha Cha, Beef Stir Fry and Chicken with Lemon Cream Sauce, all with a vegetable and probably a 100 Calorie Pack for dessert.

My Birthday is Wednesday too!!!! :)

  • I've been horrible. I celebrated my bday this past weekend. So lots of junk food was had this past weekend. No exercise, because I had horrible cramps too. :(

Going to try and get back into it this week. Not sure about meals yet. Doing my list tonight so we'll see.

  • I'm trying to get the motivation to get back into running, it's really been the best way for me to loose weight.  This weather is adding to the motivation! De-icing the driveway and shoveling have been great workouts for me this week.

We're heading to VT tomorrow, so meals are going to be up in the air.  My goal is to eat salad's whenever possible.  I also am meeting my goal of drinking two nalgene's a day.  The challenge with that is I have to pee every five minutes so it's hard when we're out running errands or driving four hours.
