It's a cyst....

I think I would have been happier if it was my appendix and it could just be removed and I can move on.

Not a big one, and I go back after 2 cycles to have it checked again unless it becomes unbearable before then.

Grrrr. it hurts :-( not constant but when it does it really does. And advil/etc. doesn't seem to help much.

Ok, whining done. Time to start reading so I can make some money ;-)

Re: It's a cyst....

  • Ah so the doc finally called!   I'm glad you have an answer as to what is going on, and I hope the pain goes away soon!  It doesn't sound very pleasant!
  • ugh! sorry michele *hugs*

did they apologize for taking so long to call you back?

  • Oh man Michele, that blows!  So sorry babe!!

  • Nope, no apology - and the doc didn't even call, the nurse did.

So I'm now finding a gynecologist to see in the next few weeks (I'll have the ultrasound results sent there too) and likely finding a new primary doc.

Sucks, kinda liked him. But when someone is in pain you don't wait 5 days to give them the results! If a nurse had called me Thurs or Fri that would have been fine, but 5 days go by and then you have a nurse call me and no apology? Grrrr. Nothing against nurses, just wanted to hear from my doc on this one.

    Oh the fun.

  • Did you at least tell the nurse that advil/motrin/tylenol doesn't cut it with the pain?  I know it's not like you can just pop some vicodin and sleep, but maybe just a low dose of something or 800mg of Ibruprofen?  I know I had a script for aleve when I had mine before getting pg.

I would call back and tell them.

Sucks about the 5 days but unless it's something serious my dr just sends stuff in the mail for test results (of course, I can always call if I'm worried).

I use a heating pad when it gets to the uncomfortable stages.

    GL and hugs!

  • wth?! i would definitely be looking into a new doc after that. five days of waiting, especially when you know a patient is in pain is NOT cool!

  • Thanks Jana - I might try the heating pad, I recently found mine so maybe when I  lie down tonight I'll try that. I don't really want to take anything more b/c it just doesn't seem to work, the pain is too diffuse I guess. I'm ok - I'm not doubled over or anything, just annoying. Hell I've managed for 2 weeks of pain so far ;-) The pain became different this weekend so maybe it's shrinking up as we speak!

I just don't want this to be the first of many.... then I'll have to go back on the pill which just sucks b/c I hate being on the pill!

  • Can they remove it so you are not in pain? I mean I am glad it's just a cyst, but if it's causing you so much pain...it doesn't make sense to have you just deal with it.

  • they don't want to rush to surgery (and neither do I frankly between being laid up for a few days and the cost), so I'm seeking out a second opinion with an ob/gyn probably in the next few weeks, hopefully right after my next cycle if it still hurts. Then we'll see. I'm totally functional, it just has become part of my day I guess at this point :-( It is a bit better this week than last, so maybe it's shrinking already?  We'll see.

  • Did they put you on hormonal birth control to shrink it?  I'm glad that's all it is.  I hope it shrinks quickly!

  • Not yet Jill and I can't actually take it anyway b/c I'm still nursing. That complicates things a bit. 3 more months and I have my body back but until then I try to minimize what I take (and regular BCP will both lower my supply and put levels of estrogen into her body that aren't necessarily great).

  • Ugh, I didn't think of that! I hope it shrinks on its own quickly!  I've had issues when them forever and it sucks.  Thinking of you!

  • Thanks Jill. Yeah, it's all just a little more complicated with a still-nursing infant. But it's ok. I'm not doubled over in pain or unable to function. Some days are better than others. I can't imagine going through this all the time. I really hope it's a fluke and a one-time thing. How can something so stinkin small cause so much pain and discomfort??? I mean really!!!!!
