On Friday night my DH and some
friends played cards all day and night. The guys left
around 4am. No drinking at all.
About 2 miles away from our house, two of our friends traveling in the
same car were hit head on by a drunk driver in a minivan that crossed
over a median. Thankfully the other guys leaving witnessed it, called
911 and dragged our friends out of the car, which caught on fire. A
friend also called DH so he rushed out to the scene. The friend of
ours that was driving suffered 2 broken legs and is had to have surgery
to get rods put in. The passenger has one broken leg and was released Saturday night.
The driver of the other car was charged with a DUI.
She is a woman in her upper 30s and she also suffered a broken leg.
While Brock was at the hospital he got the back story. The drunk driver
and her friend were at a party and felt like they both couldn't drive
so the passenger called her husband and asked him to pick them up. He
refused. And that's not all! When the passenger got to the hospital,
they tested her and she found out she is pregnant! Can you imagine what
a douche her husband feels like? I can't imagine DH calling me to
say he was drunk and just ignoring him (and vice versa). DH never found out if she and
the baby were okay because she had to wait on a specialist (since they
can't do x-rays), which at Grady hospital apparently takes forever. When he
left on Saturday afternoon, they still hadn't even looked at her and
wouldn't let her move. The driver of the minivan had a broken leg too.
Here's a link to a
blurb in the AJC. And DH was on the news on Saturday night too from the scene of the accident. The cars looked awful!
I'm
asking for T&Ps for our friends who have the broken legs because
they are going to be going through a lot over the next few months to
recover mentally, emotionally , and possibly financially since they may
be away from work for some time and insurance may not give them
everything they need right away. Also for the people in the other car. TIA!
No drinking and driving ladies!!!

Your story gives me goosebumps. That is one of my biggest fears when I go to a party and leave. We are responsible and always have a DD but lots of people like to roll the dice. It's to scary.
I hope your friends all the best.
I hope your friends have a quick recovery. They'll need a lot of help in the coming months. The road ahead isn't easy (DH has metal rods). I truly wish them all the best.
I swear I saw this on WSB this morning. I remember the crushed van.
that's terrible about their insurance too
I hope they recover quickly

Sending lots of T & P your way.
One of H's good friends darn near died in a car accident when he was hit by a drunk driver about 6 years ago. Scary stuff, for sure.
