What to do with this?

Back story:  Our living room is an addition that was put on the house so what you are seeing is the original outside wall with the window.  When the addition was put on, they took out the window, opened up the space, and put the tacky spindles in for safety.  The ceilings in the living room are around 14 1/2 feet high.  I didn't put a pic of the bedroom, but that is also the window to our bedroom.  I don't really want to close it off as it is good for air flow and it also lets some light in as our bedroom is quite dark anyways.  Ideas?  We've talked about putting in a cape cod style tip out window so we can have the option for it open or closed, but I'm kinda at a loss.  I am not creative when it comes to this type of thing.  Gotta love quirky houses!
