Good Morning!

Ow.  Apparently taking nearly 2 months off of working out means you a) can't lift nearly as much when you start again, and b) hurt like heck the next day!  Derek and I did our first workout in the basement last night, and while it took a bit longer to get through since he's new to most of the stuff, it was really awesome to be working out together again.

I kind of want to get a new outfit (or at least a new top) to wear to this memorial thing on Thursday.  Is that ok?  I think so.  Derek said he'd likely be home late today, so maybe I'll go to the mall after work.

Oh, and does anyone have experience with carpet tiles?  I think I want to put them down in the gym part of the basement, but I don't know yet.

How is everyone today?

Re: Good Morning!

  • Good morning, ladies.

Snowing and cold here, and I'm trying to get motivated to knock out a ton of work today.

Yes, raynes, I think a new outfit is in order for the memorial.

    Have a great day, everyone!

  • Have you thought about using the interconnecting square mats for the workout room?  I don't know if that is what you are looking for, but we use those for our workout room and really like them.  We got them in the toy section of the store because a lot of people use them for kids' playrooms.  Other than that, I'm no help.

I definitely think you should get a new outfit.  It will help cheer you up.

  • I'm still hurting from my first pilates class in 5 months, so I (literally) feel your pain, raynes!  It's also funny to hear my DH complaining about his sore hips and bum.

Nothing much going on with me today.  Hopefully I'll sneak out of work early since manager and his boss are both out this week.  I have to start studying up to take the theory part of my drivers test.

  • Raynes - A new top is warranted for sure. For the carpet tiles, I've heard mixed reviews. Some people say they rarely if ever stay together, so you're constantly tripping over the ends that come up. Other people love them. I think for a basement and your purpose, it would probably be fine.

I feel like total garbage this morning. I just could not sleep last night, and I was exhausted. I wonder if it's what they talk about with little kids. They get too sleepy and then can't sleep because they're so over tired. That was me...all night long. We do have an OB appointment this morning to finally make sure there's really something in there, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

My boss called out today, but she wants to come in later. Umm, I really don't want your nasty stomach bug. Stay home already!

The kinda puzzle piece shaped ones?  Multi-coloured?  Yes, I've considered those too.  I'm going to have to get my Google on a bit more I think!

  • Raynes I agree with the multi-colored ones. Where it is just a workout room, you could probably find them at a baby consignment shop as well.  Unless you want brand new. I have some for the boys and love them.

Yesterday I had to work OT at work, so by the time I got home I was exhausted. the boys went to bed about 45 minutes later, and I followed.  I fell asleep at 8:00.  I was so tired.

Today is lots of work and working out tonight. I need it because I seriously know I have a weight gain this week from all the crap I ate of the weekend. Why do I do this to myself?

    Have a great day ladies!

These come in just gray, too. I think we got ours in the car section of a Wal-Mart or something. I guess just in case you don't want to have a multi-colored workout room.

  • Good morning. I'm cold today. It's another bitter winter day here. I'm beyond ready for Spring at this point. Nothing too exciting here. I wasn't feeling great last night so I went to bed early. Tonight I need to work out and get a few things accomplished around the house. Kyle is leaving for a boys trip to Miami on Wednesday night, so once he gets home from work I'll probably enjoy spending some time with him before he leaves.
  • We have the gray interlocking mats in the basement.  They are ok but I find I slip around a little too much and they will come apart if I'm doing something more intense or high impact like Insanity.

Today I work 10:30-6:30.  I haven't done a closing shift at this hospital yet so it will be something different. Have a good day.

Hmm, we're trying to avoid the slipping thing.  Right now it's just concrete with a layer of dust, you even slip around on the rubber mat that's under the squat rack.

Maybe I should start with mopping?  Ha.

I'll check out Walmart/Canadian Tire, thanks for the suggestions!

  • Yup, those are the ones.  We got ours in blue but I suppose you could get the cool ones with the letter and number shapes so you can practice your alphabet and counting while you workout. Wink

We did have to put one of those "no slip" mats underneath to make sure it stayed in place.  They work great for working abs and are also nice because if we really need to use the space for something else, I can pick them up and stack them.

  • Morning, all. Last night was a nice evening, what with H's homemade tomato sauce and pasta. We had to do laundry, though, which is never fun. I love our apartment, but would love it a little more if there were a washer and dryer in the unit.

Tonight's a gym night and should be an early night; there's a work event tomorrow that may need my help, so I'll need some sleep so I won't be a grump to the attendees.

I feel you on the gym. Carpet tiles. I use them a lot in my work. a company called Interface Flor makes some really awesome ones. You can glue them down with serious glue but they come with tabs that you peel off the corners and they stick down. My office and conference room have them and they are great if you accidentally ruin one you can just lift it up and replace it.  I've used them in commercial and residential jobs and have always been happy.

Now back to the "coal mine" since I'm leaving in a few days my job has given me everything that needs to be done that they can't do while I'm gone. :( Nice to know I have a niche but I'm tired.

  • ugh, what a morning!... woke up at 430 to Penny non-stop scratching her ear and shaking her head.  She had some little scabs in her ear from scratching that I was keeping my eye on (last time they cleared up on their own in a few days) and I hadn't noticed her really scratching that much... well now she was and her whole ear became red and raw :(

I got up and took her downstairs to sleep with me on the couch, which turned into me swaddling her in a blanket so she couldnt scratch and watching the news... I got dressed at 630, and left to take her to the vet 1st thing when they opened at 730... well, they only open for boarding drop offs, doctor didn't come in until 9 Sad no point in driving home bc at that hour I would have had to turn right back around to sit in traffic to get to the 9am appt on time.... so we sat in the car, then we went to my old apt bldg complex so she could dump, then we sat in the car some more.... finally saw the doctor... no mites, just open wounds that are probably becoming infected... $75 and a tube of ointment later, I'm finally at work.... tired and starving.

  • Good morning. Having a pretty uneventful day here. I'll be at work all day and then I'm going to stop by my parents house for a visit afterwards. Hopefully I'll also feel well enough to go for a walk when I get home. Have a good day ladies.

  • Good morning. It's a cold and snowy day here today. I was hoping for a snow day since we have over a foot of snow...but no such luck.

I have a feeling it will be a pretty quite day around here. Most of our appointments have already called to cancel, so most of the attorneys aren't coming in. Guess I'll have time to catch up on some nesting!

  • Afternoon ladies. Im super bored at work today. 2.5 more hours til I can get out of here! I think the days are going by slower now for me cause my ultrasound is next Wednesday. We will gef to see baby for the first time and hopefully find out if its a girl or boy, as well as make sure its growing and healthy.
  • Hey ladies:

Today I took a chapter out of the book of Mandee and am looking into hiring a personal trainer. I loved having a trainer when I had one a few years ago, and now that my body is well different, I think it'd be good for me to help me to feel better about the changes.

Also tonight is home visit #2 (with any luck) and then parenting class #2. Almost there!

  • Evening ladies!

Today was a much better day than yesterday.  My co-teachers got a kick out of the nasty email that I got yesterday.  My kids were pretty good for the day, I only had one kid for detention duty after school, and I got in a 5 mile run when I got home.  Now I have baked chicken tenders and oven fries cooking and I am catching up on my Nesting while I wait for Ed to get home!
