Babies Babies Babies!!
All the fertile waters around here have me thinking about our own baby plans a little more....So I was just wondering what you all thought:
1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC?
2. How many kids do you want?
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not?

1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? I'd like to have a baby around our 3 year wedding anniversary...so I guess we'd start trying in a year and a half??
2. How many kids do you want? DH wants only one, I'd like twins
I'm already 30, so I dunno yet...
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? It doesn't look like we'll be able to afford me staying home. I'd like to be home for the first year, because I don't know if I could give an infant to daycare, but maybe after a year old, I'd feel better. NO ONE in my family is a working mom, so the thought is foreign to me, although I know it's a reality for so many moms. I wish things were different in this aspect. I'm trying to switch gears in my career so that I have a better schedule to accommodate children. This is pretty much the reason we're not having a baby sooner.
1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? In a year or two. DH wants to have a new job and we need to finish up the work on the house.
2. How many kids do you want? one or two. I love having a sister (she's on her way over now to keep me company and bring me fluids) but DH was an only child and the more kids the more money....so its all something to consider.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? I would love to be a SAHM working for myself. However currently part of my paycheck is needed to pay bills. However I don't make enough to pay for daycare....so I'm not sure what we will do.
1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? We may or may not be trying right now. And DH may or may not have sworn me to secrecy (except he's telling his brother this weekend, who will tell his wife, so I figure this is fair). AND, we may or may not have promised each other we won't tell anyone when we conceive until we reach 12 weeks, so it'll be a long wait until I announce something on here. We both feel like our families should know first. Edit: We both also ascribe to the 12 week wait just because we're traditional like that.
2. How many kids do you want? At least 2, but it's a huge financial burden and it took us a long time to agree that now was the right time for 1. So it'll be a few years between kids, but we both really really really want 2.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? No. Why or why not? Financially it just doesn't work for us. My insurance is way cheaper than DH's, so it would make more sense to add kids to mine. I also have a pretty awesome work schedule for a full-timer (8-4:30). We have also researched day cares in our area and found a strong contender that's about a mile from each one of our offices, so that makes things a little easier with drop off and pick up.
1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? We have been trying since the wedding and are on month #11, and it's not working out so well - not surprising considering our ages. We're meeting with our fertility specialist next week to make a plan for IUI or IVF.
2. How many kids do you want? 2 would be ideal, but I don't think I would go through fertilty treatment for #2 so we may end up with just 1.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Nope. I make 2/3 of our income right now, and even if DH gets a higher paying job I'll be making more than him and we would never be able to live off his income. If anything, we've talked about DH cutting back to part-time and being a SAHD. Honestly, even if he made lots of money I think I'd still want to work, I would maybe just go to part time.

1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? I am going to answer this even though I am pregnant. DH and I really wanted to wait until this summer before trying, but surprise! here we are...11 weeks pregnant.
2. How many kids do you want? We would like 2 for sure...maybe 3 if the cards are right.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Yes. DH's paycheck is covering all our bills. Most of my check goes to savings and for trips, fun things, and dates. I will be starting a business at home, but it won't bring in the same amount at first as I am making now. Once we are done having kids and the youngest is in school, I will probably find a part time job somewhere to keep busy with (unless my business takes off).

2. How many kids do you want? 2--we don't want the little ones to out-number the adults, and I would like 1 of each
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? probably not, I don't think we will be able to afford me staying at home. Maybe I will look for something part time or try to do a flex-schedule because I would like to be home with my kids as much as possible.

We originally wanted to start at the end of last summer, but surprise! We got pregnant right away! We know that we want our kids fairly close together....probably 1 1/2-2yrs apart....but we'll see how that goes!
2. How many kids do you want?
We both want a good size family. I come from a family of 3 kids, my hubby from a family of 4 kids. We would like to have about the same (3-4 kids). We are planning on adopting a child later on so we are factoring that into consideration as well.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Yes...for as long as I can. Why or why not? It's very important to me to be able to be home with my kids until they are at least school age...and then to have good schedule so I can be with them after school. (Huge reason why I got my degree in teaching). I have always wanted to be a mother and plan to be very hands on. Once they are school age I will most likely get a job (unless we open a business and then I will work that) to help out financially. For me, being a stay at home mom is a top priority.
1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? I think we are going to start trying sometime in 2012. I am not really in a rush and I want to be sure that we have a house and are financially set up.
2. How many kids do you want? Either two or three. We will see how the cards fall!
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Probably not. If I am it will be because I have started my own business that I can do from home. If in a few years we find ourselves in a financial position to do so, then you never know!

2. How many kids do you want? We both want 2. We want them to be about 5 years apart, so you only have one in high school at once, one in college at once, etc. Plus, when the first kid is 5, they will be able to be more of a "helper".
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Yes. I really want to continue working from home for the same company I work for now, and I think I could talk them into it. There would be so much I could do from home, and I know they would work with me. Jeff makes enough that it wouldn't be too tight, and daycare around here just isn't that ideal (two at-homes that are already overbooked).

I am thinking around our 2 year anniversary. I am starting to get the bug now, but I am in grad school and I would like to be towards the end of my schooling before we have a baby

DH and I are only children, so we both would like 1...2 MAX. We'll see how we feel once we have a first baby!

I would LOVE to be a SAHM! Our hope is that by the time we are ready to have a baby that DH has a job that pays a bit more than he gets paid now (maybe half of what I make) and then I could work part time. Once the baby would be here I would be able to make a lot of money PT because hopefully I will have my MSW.
We'll see. I think it would be good to work 20 hours a week and have family watch and or DH watch the baby when I am at work (i.e. mix of days and evening hours). 
We'll see. I know we're not ready yet because the whole getting a higher paying job isn't working as smoothly as I would like. Sooooo I know God has a plan and it will happen when it's supposed to!

3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? No way. Don't think I could do it. My boss has already offered to turn one of the rooms here into a mini nursery....we shall see!

1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? I, of course, wouldn't mind starting right away, as the old clock isn't ticking any slower for me :-) But H is still not there yet...Ideally, I'd like to begin trying no later than the end of this year. If that doesn't work out, then adoption is certainly an option!
2. How many kids do you want? I'd love to say a houseful, but I would be happy to have one at this point!
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? This would be a toss up...I would certainly love to, and we're fortunate that we can afford that if I chose to...but I do know that I would want my kiddo to attend private school ( I have one in mind, and it's not cheap), so I could see myself working to pay for that. H is ok with public schools, and I don't see him forking over hefty tuition fees...so that would be the primary reason I would continue to work!

1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? We are currently TTC...however, I stopped my Depo shot in November and haven't gotten AF back yet...so really, we will start TTC when she shows her face again.

3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Probably not, we won't be able to afford it, plus my insurance is cheaper and the cost doesn't go up to add dependants. I plan on taking off as long as we can afford...I've already been saving my vacation time

1. (For those of us that aren't preggo) When do you want to TTC? We plan to wait until at least after our 1 year annivesary before trying at all. But honestly, the thought of TTC in only a few months kind of freaks me out so in my head, the summer sounds like a good time to start.
2. How many kids do you want? I want at least 3. DH says we'll start with 1 and work our way up from there.
3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? I don't think so. Like other girls, ideally I would work part time. But I've never grown up with SAHM so the idea is a little foreign to me.
ahhh blackmail!!! I talked to my mom on the phone about a month ago after a glass or two too many of wine and made some comment about maybe having kids. She had a fit (in a good way) but has been kind and patient enough not to mention it since

I am ready to start trying, like yesterday! I have so many friends who are pregnant/just had baby and I am definitely jealous. Not a day goes by that I don't think about having a baby. However, I don't think DH is ready. Mainly because we are not financially ready

3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? Probably not, I manage a daycare so I get 75% off childcare...they'd be with me anyway!

3. Are you going to be a stay-at-home-mom? Why or why not? I go back and forth on this all the time. I really have no idea. We could afford to live on DH's salary, so it is an option. There are pros and cons to both, and I might just have to see how I feel about it once the time comes. Part time could be good perhaps.

As much as I'd like to stay home until the kids are in school, we just can't afford to live off DH's salary alone - especially with a baby. I also love my job and what I do, so I do actually like working. Although, I'm not sure how we'd afford to put the child in daycare, but we'll see when the time comes.
