Update: Job Progress

I have an appointment with the dept's director on Wednesday at 1. Is an appointment different from an interview? :-/

It sounds like it might be a "pre-interview" (one-on-one with the director). I'd guess based on the description the "appointment" will determine whether or not they'll move you on to a formal interview, which would likely be in front of a panel.

I'd say dress like it's for an interview. Have your resume and references on hand in case they ask for them.

I'm definitely going to suit up, but I don't think it's a pre-interview. The woman who I'm meeting with is someone my former CEO knows "very well" so it makes me wonder.

I would consider it a normal interview and prepare as such. At least if it is then you were ready for it.

It sounds like the informationals we do. It is a meeting before the interview to network within the dept. I would go with a list of questions about the position, team, etc. Not as much HR/benefit questions but about the job. If it is like an informational, your goal is to gain more information than you give.
