Your Tips on Cleaning inside of Microwave!

What do you find to be the easiest way to clean the inside of a microwave.

Re: Your Tips on Cleaning inside of Microwave!

  • Microwaving a cup of water to allow steam to soften any residue then using all purpose cleaner or hot soapy water to wipe out with a cloth or paper towels. We recently bought a plastic cover to use in the microwave to cut down on splatters.

  • Thank you for the advice.  How long do you microwave the water for?

    I cover EVERYTHING.

But my teenager and husband do not..... and look who ends up having to clean it.

  • vinegar also works.

  • Put vinegar in a spray bottle and spray on walls?
  • Microwave until the water is boiling and steaming up the inside of the microwave door.  Do NOT fill the cup all the way to the top and use potholders to CAREFULLY remove the cup.
  • I fill one of my pyrex bowls about 3/4 full of water and then pour in a bit of vinegar (I never measure). Then I microwave the bowl for 5-6 minutes. The steam helps to loosen a lot of the gunk and I use the vinegar/water solution as my cleaning bucket when I need to scrub more stuck-on areas. It works great!

  • I just did the water boiling trick in the microwave the other day and my DH was so surprised on how clean it turned out!  I don't like the use chemicals in there since we cook food in there too!  Just creaps me out!

  • I always take my sponge and nuke it for 2 minutes (since it's supposed to kill germs off your sponge as well)- then spray the entire microwave w/windex and wipe it all down.
  • I set a bowl of water with slices of lemon and nuke it for about 4-5 minutes. It's nice and steamy so all the gross stuff comes off - and it smells pretty fabulous!
  • magic eraser and a clorox wipe
