Not me!! I seriously just got out for the first time 2 days ago. Not looking forward to being locked up again.

Re: Who's ready for snow??

  • I'm as ready as I can be.  I still need to go to Tractor Supply and get dog food...but other than that I'm stocked with groceries for the next 5 days.

I'm hoping it will be a little warmer this time around so B can play in the snow a bit more.  And that it will melt the roads quickly.

  • I battled Wal-Mart at lunch, bought a shovel while I was in Texas, and I have enough DVDs and books to last me if I get snowed in the rest of the week. Ready as I'll ever be, I think. :)

  • I'm not. Not at all. I mean, I "love" snow... but not when it makes doing most things impossible and miserable.

We have lots of cattle (we, as in H and I, my parents, my siblings, and my grandparents - we all own a percentage of the operation). My mom and I take care of the 200 that are on our end every day - this includes feeding, haying, and cutting ice. And, when there is this much snow on the ground, it sucks. It makes it near impossible to get through the pasture without getting stuck. On Sunday night we had 10 heifers fall through the ice in the middle of the pond and die... and there wasn't one single thing we could do about... or do to prevent it. They were in a group and were too heavy for the ice, even though it is a good 10+ inches thick. When it comes time to sell the cattle at the end of summer, that's going to be about $7000 (give or take) that we've lost. The thought of them drowning makes me sick to my stomach - I worry to death about it happening again. I know it's all part of the business, but it blows. This weather sucks.

Hmm. I guess that's my official 'whine about the weather' post.

  • I'm ready. We have enough food and I stopped before work this morning and got milk (hopefully the sticky note on 1 of my computer screens will help me not forget it in the fridge), if its not too bad when I leave work at 5 I need to get gas but if I don't I have enough to get home.

Oh thats horrible! I can't imagine. Hopefully this time around won't be too bad.

We are good to go. I guess I'm not that all anxious about it like I was last week since H will actually be home this time. We have plenty of food and lots of movies to watch. Hopefully our heater won't freeze up again.

  • Blahhhh. I do NOT want more snow/snow days. I'm dreading making these up for school.

We're ready--salt, shovels, groceries, booze. I've got papers to grade and two books to read. I'm just waiting for DH to get home so we can back the cars into the garage. I can't do it without him directing me, and it's near impossible to get out of our steep driveway in this weather unless we've backed in to the garage.

  • I'm not "ready" but I'm prepared. Plenty of food, booze, ice melt, and I've got shovels. Neftlix and video games at the ready. Brought my graduate project binder home so I can do some research if I choose.

  • I'm so tired of snow! I work in a hospital and opted to stay the night in one of the spare room so I know I will be here in the morning for patients.  I'm not looking forward to sleeping on a hospital bed.

  • I'm ready for another day off work, but not looking forward to anything else about the snow! DH hopes his work isn't cancelled, since he's hourly and they want people to come in on the weekend to make it up work.

So far, so good! My dad and H are off work today and little brother is out of school, so my mom and I got the day off from feeding. Which, was SO nice, because we got about 16 or so inches of snow and H had to use the backhoe to clear the roads and feed grounds. Also, it gives me about 4 extra hours in my day to catch up on all my homework!

Ohh, that story made my heart ache a little. I can't even imagine that for the cows and for you guys having to watch that. I'm so sorry....but I'm really glad it's going better this time.
