I'm so scared of the bump I won't even click over there! I don't want to be dragged into their web of craziness!
Girl, pick you up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and start charting on FertilityFriend.com. It will tell you everything that your body is doing.
Your period probably wasn't a week "late". You may have just ovulated later on in your cycle. Seriously. Chart. It's not neurotic and there's nothing wrong with knowing what your body is doing. If you do get pregnant, you will know exactly when you conceived, which will be invaluable during your pregnancy if they try to pull any shenanigans with your due date.
I say a week "late" because since I was a teenager I've had a 21 day cycle (who doesn't want their period every 3 weeks?!?! ugh.), 23 days MAX, last month it was 29 days. Even after not having a period for several years with BCP it went right back to 21 days. Never ever have I had a cycle that long and I wasn't a fan! I POAS for the first time in my life and was so disappointed when it was negative. By the way, POAS is not an easy task, or maybe I just haven't had enough practice.
I'm going to wait a few months to chart. I just don't want to be like Monica on Friends and be all we HAVE to have sex right now regardless of the fact that I'm covered from head to toe in vapor rub!
lol
Does your preferred brand of tests have a pee in a cup option?
Ok, i don't want to scare you, but please google "luteal phase defect". I think you really should chart, and consider a B6 supplement. I would also schedule a visit with your OBGYN to discuss the fact that you are TTC, and see what can be done about your cycle.
and if you are TTC, it's a good thing to be all "we should have sex now", since ultimately having sex at the right time is what will make a baby. It sounds like you're scared to actually get pregnant (totally understandble, it's a big deal for anyone, but especially you with your migraines), so you don't want to actively try by purposefully have intercourse around ovulation, but the fact that you're not on BCP means that you are in fact trying.
For the record, I say all of the above with much love and concern for you, and I don't mean any of it in a bitchy or bossy way.
I don't think I really have a "preffered brand" it was more the brand that was on sale. But peeing in a cup is something else I am completely incapable of doing.
The cheap dollar store ones work really well...I saw the faintest line the day before fertilityfriend.com said it was ok to start testing. Of course, I didn't trust it and bought a digital 2 pack to confirm it and it was right. And, I always used a cup. Also, I swear by the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor.
I don't really get this part. I'm pretty sure I ovulate on day 7 or 8 based on pretty significant symptoms which means I start in the 12-14 days post ovulation range, which is normal. Other than last month, I've never had problems with my cycle. I didn't have a period for about 3 years but that was by choice to prevent migraines, not because of problems. Also, I've already talked to my doctor about TTC at my last annual appointment in September as well as over e-mail numerous times about concerns regarding my migraine meds. She knows I have a very short cycle and doesn't seem to think there is any problem since that has pretty consistenly been my cycle since I first got a period.
I'm not the least bit scared to get pregnant. I just know myself and I know that charting will cause me to be WAY too OCD about things. Right now I'm in the if it happens, it happens camp. Honestly, if it doesn't happen, so be it. We'd love to have kids but neither of us are willing to go through a lot of medical procedures to have one.
For me, I don't want sex to become only about getting pregnant and I don't want to put a lot of stress on myself to get pregnant right now. Stress for me leads to migraines which lead to me taking meds that aren't really pregnancy safe. If I take the meds, we have to wait for the meds to leave my system to try again. I'd like to just not need the meds.
P&R, how do you know so much about this?
As for charting, it really isn't all that stressful. Of course, I only charted for a month or two on feritlity friend (and not very faithfully), but it still worked.. and I got the time down right. And DH wasn't really in on the whole thing, so he didn't know why I was jumping him! (Of course he knew we were trying! LOL) GL!
Sounds like you have the right attitude. For me, I was less stressed charting and following everything so closely...just how my brain works, the more info the less stress. Sounds like you know what works for you. Good luck!
LOLLL, i love that episode!! her voice kills me every time.

@Jules, I am way interested in all of this stuff, so I have read TCOYF cover to cover a couple of times, and done quite a bit of research on my own, since I am pretty sure I will have a couple of infertility issues myself.
@Allison, I'll email you privately.
