Lori (another resume ?)

Sorry to totally use you for your recently acquired knowledge from your resume-expert friend, but I really need this to be good!

There are two things I could remove from my resume in order to make room for a professional statement at the top like you recommended. Either I could remove my law school internship under "experience" (which is the only other job experience i have other than my current job), or I could remove honors/activities from my education and just leave my major & GPA.

Thoughts?

Re: Lori (another resume ?)

  • Hmm, I guess it depends on the field, but I would think that the internship is more important to have on there.  In my field no one really cares what your honors/activities (or even your GPAs) were... just that you have an MBA. Was the internship a different field of law than you're doing now?  If so, I think it would be good to include to show diversity.

BTW - at some point when you have enough experience it's okay to let your resume be more than a page. Mine is 3 pages, 2 pages of experience and 1 of education/other stuff.  Of course, I'm a lot older than you! Not sure what the "rules" are with letting it go to multiple pages but that might be something for you to look into.

I would leave your internship and take off the other education stuff.

If your resume goes to more than one page, who cares!  I would then call it what the doctors do!  A Curriculum vitae!

  • Thanks!! I am too nervous to make it more than 1 page just yet hahaa but I will get rid of the educational crap and insert a statement at the top. I really like that idea!
