I'm planning to paint two of the walls in my dining room & my front entry way.
Right now, two of the walls are a yellow-ish tan color and the other wall is a sage-y green. The entry is all the yellow-ish tan. I want to paint all the yellow walls a chocolate brown with lighter browns mixed in to create a leathery texture.
My sister has all the brown paint that I need and she said I could have it. However, it's a semi-gloss finish - the walls that are staying are eggshell finish.
Would mixing the two paint finishes in the same room look stupid? Should I just go buy new paint?

Re: Paint question
Definitely buy new paint. The difference of the finishes will be very obvious. Not to mention, the more glossy the paint finish, the more wall imperfections it shows.
I only use semi-gloss for trim since it's easy to wipe down. Otherwise, I use matte. I have eggshell in my kitchen and bathrooms...eggshell is still fine for DR and entryway walls too...I just like my paint as flat as possible:)

I'm torn on this one. My first instinct is go with the free paint, but I think it all depends on the walls orientation to each other.
We have a wall in our upstairs game room/office that connects to our living room wall downstairs by way of the staircase. There was no place to cut it off so that it was the same color as our upstairs room. The paint on that wall is vanilla bean (like the french vanilla ice cream) and is semi-gloss.
When I got the paint for the upstairs room, I wasn't sure of the finish, so I picked the satin finish. Because the yellow wall is obviously the "accent" wall, it looks okay in a different finish.
But, if your walls are oriented to which it wouldn't look deliberate, then I'd say buy new paint in a matching finish.
