~* BELLA *~

Anyone feel free to chime in... I just figured since Bella is a cooker she might relate lol...

Totally weird question but whenever I cook with onions I feel like my hands smell like onions for days after... have you ever heard of this? lol.  All I did was chop 2 white onions on sunday for my guacamole and I didn't even eat any of... well besides taste testing and practically licking the bowl LOL... but my hands STILL smell like onions to me and it is driving me nutts.  Is this normal or am I weird?!? lol

Re: ~* BELLA *~

  • It's fairly normal.  I used to have a stainless steel ball thing specifically for that.  If you rub your hands on anything stainless it'll take the smell right away...a spoon or even the sink will do the trick.

You can also cut it with washing your hands with lemon juice but the SS always worked best for me.

  • I HATE chopping onions so I just cut one into 4 and then chop in the food processor. Makes an extra dish to clean, but so worth it.

  • Hey hun

Definitely normal!  It happens a lot with onions and garlic.

It doesn't really happen to me, but I know others have used these tricks and had good luck:

    - Pour a little salt or baking soda on hands and rub them together. Rinse with water.
    - Squeeze toothpaste on one palm, then rub hands together. Rinse with water.
    - Rub hands across a stainless steel utensil under running tap water.
