I was the same way.  But I never give up on books, so I poweder through it.  Once you get past like halfway, it's an amazing read and I couldn't put it down.  But getting that far was a struggle. Just keep going, I promise it's worth it by the end.  The other two were kind of the same way too.

I'm the same way - I have to REALLY hate a book to put it down.

I think I'm the minority with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo -- I've been loving it since I started it, and the only reason I haven't finished it yet is because I've been too busy to really read much...

  • I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I loved the whole series.

I got Wicked from the library and am on page 100ish, and I really can't get into it at all. :(

I read it, and liked it a lot. She's a descriptive writer, and I like that.

I also am a huge fan of Memoirs of a Geisha

And I hated the Dragon Tattoo books.  I read them because I bought them all when everyone was raving and I read all of them because I hate to waste books, but seriously, blech.

  • Mary - so glad you're loving Garlic and Sapphires!!!!  I was pure enjoyment for me, love reading her description of food, I kept kinding my mouth watering!

Tender at the Bone was really good too, starts in her childhood and all the people and food influences in her life.  Lots of recipes throughout, just like in G&S.  Can't wait to read the middle one!

Were you into her writing style as much as the story line? I can read a book on something I'm not entirely interested in if the author makes it something more.

Memoirs absolutely changed my life. Or at least my outlook on what makes a phenomenal book. Same thing. Smile

  • Favorite Book:

    image

It's a cheesy smut novel, but the banter between the main characters is hilarious and makes me smile.

    Book I'm reading now:

    image

It's about a dog that was rescued from a fighting ring and found a forever home with a loving family. I saw it on the shelf and couldn't pass up that face on the cover. I would have taken him home too.

Both. I thought she did a good job for a period piece. There were things that she incorporated that were just of that time. I liked the story and the characters.
