Job qualifications or descriptions?

Do you apply to jobs even if there are abbreviations or descriptions of something you don't understand or have never worked within?

For instance, there is a job open at the IRS and it says "This is a Bargaining Unit Position."

That's just one example, but I wondered if you just apply anyway and hope that it makes sense later if you ever get to the interview process (which I've yet to do during this layoff.)

Re: Job qualifications or descriptions?

  • Ok I've now found that Bargaining Unit means that it is part of a union (not required).  There have been descriptions that I didn't know what they mean and wondering if I'm wasting my time on them.
  • Only if I can research them and find out if it's something I could handle

  • Agree with PP.  I would google the term that I didn't know to see if I could handle it.  If nothing else, maybe call the company (you don't even have to say who you are) and just inquire what it is...
