XP: Would you buy... (BR)
Nursery furniture from Wal-Mart? They sell Graco nursey furniture and I've heard good reviews and it's super affordable. My mother told me that she was going to buy my crib, as she did for my sister. I had found some good, beautiful cribs at stores like Babies 'R Us and JC Penney, but then found out my mother's budget for the crib/mattress was $400 and my father contributed an additional $200 when they purchased my sister's crib/changing table. This, of course, fell short of the amount I was expecting.
I'm not complaining at all, by the way. I'm super excited that they're doing anything like this as it's a big expense. I'm just realizing that to get a crib/mattress/changing table/dresser around the same price, I had to look elsewhere. I found the Graco ones at Wal-Mart and I think they're adorable and affordable. Would you purchase nursery furniture there, as long as it had good reviews?
These are the ones that I like, and I could easily find a small dresser that would put me at or around $600 total. They're all convertible cribs, too.

I bought my sister's nursery furniture there. She has no complaints. The only thing she misses is a plastic cover on the top rail (baby is 14 months and chews on the side).
I think that as long as the reviews are good and you like the product go for it. We looked around everywhere when we bought L's crib and dresser and I was blown away by how expensive it all was. We ended up getting her crib from Target and I love it. It was exactly what we wanted and in the price range I was willing to spend.
BTW I love the cribs you picked out, the color is awesome. And Graco has been around forever so they must be doing something right.
This is the one we got L. And this is that matching dresser/changing table that we got her as well(hers is the dark wood.). What I liked was that it could go right into a dresser and it was multi purpose.
I don't see anything wrong with it at all. I also really like some of the stuff that Target has for nurseries.
Do you have a Burlington where you are (no idea if they are all over or just here) that has a Baby Depot section? If so, they have some nice, affordable to stuff as well.

I most certainly would, if the reviews are good. Like so many other products, a lot are made in the same factories but given different labeled and sold at different stores. If the reviews are good, and in person it looks good/study/safe, I'd go for!
Btw, my fav is the 2nd link. But I think part of it is just how darn cute that room is!
I can't remember, is your next appt at the end of the month and you're finding out the sex then?

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermI have read great reviews about Graco's furniture, so I would definitely consider these cribs!
In fact, a friend of mine who is due a month before me bought a Graco crib and loves it now that it is in her home...
Megan & Chris
That being said, as long as the product is safe (and I would do as much research as humanly possible), I would say go for it!
I don't either.I think they're evil for a variety of reasons, so I don't shop there for anything.
With that being said, I wouldn't worry about the product itself. Graco is Graco. But personally, I would scope out second-hand shops for a gently used version of what I wanted before I'd buy it there. Just my (super obnoxious, I know) 2 cents.
I personally HATE walmart and avoid it any way that i can!! That being said, Walmart carries the lower end of Graco....it is not the same (maybe a discontinued fabric or last years model, etc) if this isnt that important to you (and the same goes for target BTW) then go for it...I see no reason to spend 3x as much at JC Penney or Babies R Us. I personally would look at target just because i cant stand walmart! Its not worth the aggrevation to me to save a couple bucks.
Good luck!!
Do you have proof to back up this statement? I've seen, for example, the same Graco crib, model Lauren, at multiple retailers and have seen, quite typically, the same reviews. If you can back up this statement, I'd love to see the evidence.
It seems anything anyone has to say against Wal-Mart would be their hatred for the "big box" store and the evilness that surrounds it (yes, I know this argument. It was literally all we talked about in my Honors Sociology class). No one has any other reason as to why they wouldn't purchase from there, though? No negative personal problems?
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I'm not 100% buying from there, but it's just a store I'm considering to attempt to save a few bucks for my parents and be able to purchase more than just a crib/changing table
This, exactly. I don't shop at walmart unless we are in Keith's hometown where there is literally no other option. But, I don't see anything wrong with buying the product there, if it's a good product and you want to.
They got Jacey's crib at Walmart and I think it's very pretty and was very reasonably priced.
