D@mnit, another lost USPS item!

I ordered DH something from Amazon for Valentines and realized that it shipped last week and I still didn't have it.

I checked and it says it was delivered last Friday, via USPS.  We definitely didn't see it. The seller provided a tracking number and according to USPS, it also says it was delivered.

Who do I contact first - seller?  Or USPS w/my tracking code?

Re: D@mnit, another lost USPS item!

  • I would contact USPS first and file a claim with them and then contact the seller to let them know as well.

I am so sorry you are having so many issues with USPS! What a pain in the rear!

Does it say it was delivered during the storms out there??

  • Thanks.  I'll call USPS first and see what I find out.

Montana- it says it was delivered last Friday, which was 2 days after the big storm.  We didn't get any additional snow that day, so I'm not sure that it would be buried anything (that was my first thought).

It was just a dvd so it would have been a small box, but it wouldn't have fit in our mail box, so it would have been set outside it.  I'm nervous that it's either lost in the snow or was stolen!

  • If this seems to be a problem I'd start having the items delivered to your work. It sounds like maybe someone is stealing the items maybe.

  • Did you check the same place the last item was found? :-P  Seriously...could be the same driver that threw the other box over your fence.  Sounds like it's time for an alternate delivery address or a PO Box.  Sorry Hannah!

The last item was never found! :O(  The store ended up shipping me a new one and they sent it out so that it'd arrive on a Saturday when we were home.

This time I actually thought I had had the item sent to my office, I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I obviously clicked the wrong address.  No more USPS apartment packages for me!

I called USPS and gave my info.  She said to call back in 30 min so she can have some time to look into it.

  • Wait, I thought you had a similar incident with you thank you cards (maybe?) and found them after a few days.  The driver threw it over the fence...??  Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else.  Oh, and I think that was UPS.  OK, NM.

    :-P

Haha, you're right!  I forgot about that issue.  The TY's were UPS.  Geesh, I have a lot of mail/package woes don't I.

UPDATE on this woe:  I called back USPS and the woman told me that my package is at the post office and since I didn't receive a slip in my mail box, just to bring an id with to pick it up.  But then she made the statement that "it's been here a while and is getting old", so I'm wondering if it's my other lost USPS package, a coat from November or maybe being there since Friday, 2/4 is considered "old" to them?  But then I asked if the box was big or small and she said it was pretty big...so I'm thinking it's my coat!  But then again, I gave her the tracking # of the DVD, but a DVD wouldn't be in a big box.

This is so bizarre!  I'm just hoping I can make it there before they close to find out what it is!

  • Wacky!  Keep us posted.  GL!

  • I highly recommend getting things shipped to work. I do this for anything of value and a stuff I have to sign for.  It is really nice because our secretary just signs for it and I don't have to worry about being home to accept the delivery.

I know! I thought I had but apparently not this time!

Ugh, and I got realized this particular PO is only open until 5pm and they can't transfer to another PO that's open later...so now I'll have to wait until Saturday to pick it up.  Boo!
