Re: Workshop Wednesday

  • Not much really. Going to be placing my first invitation order within the week probably.

  • Well, I was very happy on Saturday when I got a refund check from my Moving & Storage company. I KNEW I payed for at least 4 weeks too many (and was still getting bills for Dec, Jan, Feb, even though they moved my stuff out of storage Nov 15 and moved it arrived in Chicago Nov 18).  So... I have been craigslisting looking for a china cabinet for our 1950s ranch.  I found one Sunday, and it was perfect size but a little too much money, and already sold.  I found the SAME one yesterday for $200 less, and it's in storage in our suburb!  I am going to look at it today- hopefully it will look as good as it did in the picture. I figured I should stay with the minimalist/50s theme.   We are also getting ready to paint this weekend, and our couch is being delivered. Lots of spackling and priming this weekend,  and I may paint at least one bedroom this weekend.  China cabinet find- one that was already sold and way more money!

Another little project is going to be to print lyrics from our first dance song, and two of our ceremony songs on some pretty paper (a trip to Archiver's is in my future) to frame and hang in our bedroom.   I wanted something besides pictures and obvious wedding mementos to hang in the master.

And finally-  I have a bunch of stuff to return to the Container Store- and will be purchasing this:  Elfa Pantry Door   I am so excited-  our house is smaller than we thought it was, esp. the kitchen (and I am still trying to convince my husband we really do NOT need the dishes that his mom didn't want so she gave to him over 10 years ago...), and this will free up some much needed shelf space!

  • Ellen,

I like that china cabinet! Very nice. I saw your post on the d&r board about plaster walls. I feel your pain...mine are plaster as well...a 1946 cape. I can't wait until we actually have money to renovate so we can put in sheetrock walls hehe.

PS i want that pantry organizer. Our kitchen is also too small for all the stuff we have.

  • Thanks, Kim!   I really wanted this one: expensive option  but that is just WAY too much money.  We are trying to buy all wood, not made in china, and not costing a fortune. So instead we are buying made in the USA but made 40-50 years ago.  Maybe when I win the lottery I'll furnish a house with Room & Board.
