Mike and I need some time away. We didnt take a honeymoon and this winter has been way too long. I am thinking a long weekend away possibly even within the next few weeks.
Any ideas? Would rather it not be Boston area (because we lived there) or Cape Cod.
Jena- Would going to Maine now be completely nuts?
Michelle- What about NH, any good places???
We would have L with us because I am the crazy parent who isnt ready to leave her yet.

Getting fit for IVF!
Hm, it's tough this time of year. Our go-to is always Newburyport, but that's in the summer. But Cape Ann/North Shore might not be too bad - the Gloucester/Salem/Rockport area should have enough to keep you busy, even in winter, I'd think.
There's North Conway, NH - good outlet shopping, skiing, quaint town. Mystic, CT isn't too bad - the aquarium would be a good time for L, the seaport maybe not so much in the cold. (Though you're probably not too far from there anyway, are you?)
There's also the Berkshires - the Stockbridge/Lee/Lenox area has the Norman Rockwell museum, Edith Wharton's home - The Mount, and Chesterwood (home of Daniel Chester French, who sculpted the Lincoln memorial). (And yes, I'm a nerd.) Good outlet shopping in Lee, and that traditional New England style feel. Lots of antique shops and galleries.
We go up to North Conway alot.....outlets, mountains, and great little restaurants. Some great BandBs up there. It is where we are going for our 1st anniversary weekend. There are alot of great places in the White Mountains. We stay here:

Some other places we have heard good things about:

Also love Burlington VT....great restaurants and cute shops....very very cold this time of year though.
Maine is great for anytime that's NOT the winter (so like 2 out of 12 months:P). There just isn't much going on here. There's some shopping to be done in Freeport (outlets), but most of the coast essentially shuts down after November until April.
Go somewhere warm and beach-comb. Then I can live vicariously through you.

Charlotte, NC! :P
Oh wait, I'm not a NE lady
Dammit!
I like the Lee suggestion. There's also great stuff to do in Amherst - the Emily Dickinson Museum and the Eric Carle Museum (the Hungry Caterpillar illustrator, but you probably know that!) It has a cute downtown area with shops and restaurants. Northhampton is great, too. We went for a weekend a few years back. Didn't stay anywhere special (I think it was like a Hampton Inn or Comfort Inn a little outside town because they were running a special.)
Also, if you like Yankee Candle, there's a flagship store in South Deerfield, Mass., that's nearby there and kinda fun to visit. We go about once every other year or so. It's a nice drive/day trip (particularly fun when it's decorated for Christmas). There's a food court and all kinds of little shops that sell decor and such as well as huge rooms of candles, of course. You can make your own molds of your hands in wax, create a layered candle of your own, etc.
And then you can stop by and visit me! J/k. Yankee candle has cute stuff for little kids too. On holidays they always have activities going on, there's a toy store (and a dylans candy bar) inside.
-Lee is nice, if you head to S. Deerfield and Amherst, Northampton is a really cool place too.
-Oh and Mystic, CT! I love the village next to the aquarium. And there's 2 outlets over in that area, and Groton is really pretty.
-I also LOVED Cape Ann and Gloucester, especially since Gloucester is a huge dog town. But if I remember correctly all the places shut down in Gloucester in the winter months.
