  • I don't understand the fuss over Glee. At all. I tried to watch it in the beginning because there was so much fuss over it and it did absolutely nothing for me. I couldn't stand it.

  • Apparently this is unpopular, because I've been to a couple of people's homes that have hosted a "party" of some sort here lately.

I think you should clean your ENTIRE HOUSE before you host guests, especially the bathroom that your guests will be using.  I went to a party a couple of weeks ago and there was crap stuck to the toilet, hair clinging to the back of the toilet seat, and the hand towel in the bathroom had toothpaste stains on it.  The counter was filthy and I had to get out a clean towel to wipe my hands on.

The other home I went to had unfolded laundry everywhere and general clutter all over the place.  I don't get it.

Thats just gross! I want my house spotless even if my mom is coming over. If we ever plan to have people over I a cleaning freak! I don't want people leaving my house saying oh did you see blah blah blah, I can't belive she didn't have that clean.

I totally agree. It grosses me out when a bathroom is disgusting at someone's house. Some of my friends don't understand why I pretty much deep-clean the whole place before I host a get-together. Um, I want you to be comfortable and see my place as clean as it can be!

My UO: Even though it probably wouldn't happen because it'd jack with graduation schedules, if I was in college right now, I'd want to make up the four days we've missed the past two weeks. Kids pay tuition to go to class - and I know most of them don't care, but missing four days of instruction and having no extra days to catch up...and yet, the professors expect you to catch up...is ridiculous. Professors won't cancel tests just because it snowed.

I think it's stupid that my apartment won't clear snow because they don't want to be held liable for an accident. If my car gets stuck pulling back into my lot, after I spent almost two hours digging out yesterday, I'm going to be a tad bit upset. Good thing I have free towing and roadside assistance included with my insurance. Sheesh.

  • I think bumper stickers are tacky. Especially political or religious ones. They just seem passive agressive to me and really you aren't going to change anyone's opinion. Plus I think they make you car look like crap when they start fading and you can barely read them.

  • TATTOOS. Last week I spent way too much time stuck at home and watched a few episodes of LA Ink on Netflix.  One episode after another was the exact same story... someone getting a tattoo in memory of someone who had died.  I wasn't a big fan of tattoos before watching the show, and now I really can't stand them.  Why do you have to permanently etch something on your body to remember someone?  I don't see how it honors anything or helps you remember... I can do that just fine on my own.

That being said, those tattoo artists were pretty amazing.  I was totally intrigued about how intricate some of those designs were, but there's still no way I'd want something like that on my body.

  • Its sad that I can't think of my own UO but when I read everyone else's I agree with them. Big Smile

  • I think BCP should be handed out like candy. It really should be free to anyone who wants it. Also I don't think it should be taboo for a 14 to 15 year old girl to be on it. I know there will be those people who really want to have a baby at a very young age. But for the people who don't and also don't have a way to obtain BCP it should be free for them.

I was talking to my mom last night about this and she told me that if she knew we were sexually active at a young age then she would have put us on it when we were about 15. I will do this for my daughter when she gets older. I would like her to not have sex at a young age but if she thinks she must then I will make sure she is protected.

    Same goes for hypothetical son.

Are clinics still allowed to hand out BCP for free?

My uo, divorces. People and recent celebs who divorce because "we just fell out of love, it's time to move on" frustrate me. People fall in and out of love all the time. Work a little harder on falling back in love. What happened to for better for worse?

Yes, the Health Department does.  According to my HS students, you can just go get them but I want to say the one in the county where my school is only distributes them on certain days of the week or something.  I know DH's cousin used to get them from free from the Health Dept. too, she just put down that she's unemployed and she was able to get them.

I think a bigger problem (though, BC availability and parents having their eyes shut to situations are a problem) is that too many teens just don't care.  To them, a baby is a new "toy" and it means they'll be attached to their baby daddy regardless of whether or not they break up b/c of the baby.  Also, teen pregnancy doesn't surprise/shock people anymore....not to say teens should be shunned for getting PG, but people act like it's no big deal, thus the teens feel that it's no big deal.

Hmm...maybe it needs to be advertised alittle more that the Health Dept does this. I guess I was naive as a teenager because I never knew anything about it.

Also, I agree with teenagers wanting to get pg. I think that's what scares me the most. Where I grew up it didn't really bother people that much. It was just something that happened. I don't really think MTV is helping much in that department either. (Gosh, I feel like I just turned into an old hag typing that) But really I think it's glamourizing teen pregnancy especially since it came out that they are paying these girls to be on tv .

I don't think teenage girls know exactly what is involved in having a baby let alone having a baby when you are still in HS. I guess they just think "Oh I guess Mom and Dad will help out" and be done with it.

  • I really hate open caskets at funerals, and "the viewing" at the funeral homes. I guess dead people creep me out. And most of the time, it doesn't really look like the person because they put so much makeup and stuff on them. And it's so awkward when it's time to walk past the casket. I feel like I shouldn't look at the person, but then at the same time you feel like you have to, but then you don't know how long to look at them...it's just weird. I just know that when I'm dead, I don't want people (family and friends) looking at my dead body. (Plus, from a Christian point of view, it's not even the person anymore. It's just their empty, old shell.)

I have an UO turned to PO:

I never ever liked Coach bags. I don't like the mirror imaged C label everywhere, the typical brown cloth, and I prefer designers over brands. But I really like Poppy collection and may break down and buy one :(

I also pretty much agree with every UO on here today, except for the tattoos post.

  • While I like the concept of paying very little out of pocket for my healthcare, I think it contributes to people racking up expensive medical charges because it is 'free'. On the bump, women are getting an expensive diagnosis test just so they have another opportunity to "see their baby" an additional time or get an early peak at the gender. Even if it is free, we end up paying for it by increased premiums. Such a poor attitude.

I got sticker shock one time when I went to a doctor sick the weekend after I moved back to OK. He wanted to do some tests that I later felt were not needed. Just padding his income? Wasn't aware of what it would actually cost - he's the doctor and he knows best, right? I think health costs should be more visible.

I realize healthcare is so tricky. How do you balance responsible care with out of control costs and keep it affordable?
