Did you file your taxes yet?

I'm feeling overwhelmed.  We went from having super easy taxes to (IMO) very complicated taxes, practically overnight.

I'm afraid I'm going to miss something or forget something or mess something up.  And we don't even do them ourselves.  Ha.  I stress too easily.

Re: Did you file your taxes yet?

  • Yup.  My H is insane when it comes to getting our taxes done.  I think we have had them done for a few weeks now.

  • Yep. Filed, sent and received. But we have super easy taxes.

  • We get them done and I should set up the appointment today. I'm just hoping we get something nice back. I know we will have to owe the city but it is usually something small.
  • Andy did them a few weeks ago - but there was some thing going on where we couldn't actually file or they wouldn't begin to process them until some time in February.  So we are still waiting patiently for our refund.

  • I can file on Friday or Saturday - whenever this form becomes available that I need

  • I did my federal and state last week. I always get stressed when I do them because I don't understand it 100% and assume that I'm doing something wrong. It doesn't take much to stress me out!
  • No, and it's driving me crazy. I usually do them, but with out rental house, the home buyer credit, and all that has changed this year I don't want the headache.  I've asked DH to get some recommendations from his coworkers and just make an appt to take them in, but he hasn't done it yet.

This - I'm no longer in the tax department at my firm, but it's my understanding that the IRS wont accept e-files on intemized returns until the middle of this month.

I did get slightly overwhelmed that my Dr, who is a client, handed me his completely organized tax packet on Feb 2nd -- I'm not so sure I remember where I put all of my W-2's.

How did your appraisal go?  Any idea when you'll hear back?

We use Hantz, they are in Grandville.  This will probably be our 3rd or 4th year using them.  We've been happy.  I can give you their info if you want.  I think they might be on the more expensive side of things though.  I'm not sure...years past we've paid $150.  I'm positive this year will be more, but it's worth it for my peace of mind.  Even though I still get stressed!  Haha gathering all the paperwork makes me insane.

NOT expensive! The past two years (from H&R and DH's company accountant) we've paid $305 and $295. I'm looking up Hantz's number now.

I was going to say that isn't bad at all.  I paid twice that for H&R block to screw mine up before.  Thanks for the rec!

My firm bills $150/hr for my level to prepare a return, and it still has to go to review after that.  My boss says he wont' do one for under 400.

  • Well Federal accepted my return. Now just waiting for state to accept return.
