Thursday Thoughts

I don't have many thoughts right now, but wanted a cute title.  Smile

Today is my friday.  SUPER excited!  J and I are doing a long weekend getaway.  we found a hotel that had an awesome weekend package AND it happens to be at a casino, which we enjoy, so it should be fun.  Even if we lost all our alloted money right away, I'd be entertained people watching all weekend.  Smile

How is everyone else so far?

Re: Thursday Thoughts

  • sounds like a fun weekend!  casinos are great for people watching.  i had a dream that ger and i were at a casino last night.  very strange.

not much going on here, kind of busy, but i just want to sleeeeeep.

gerren and i have been kind of "off" lately, which is bothering me.  its because we havent had a day off together in so long, and only 3 days off together since before christmas.  it really wears on us.

other than that, just working on my taxes today, dropped them off with m accountant/cousin to do them for us, she will come over tonight and we will review them.  YAY.

did i mention i am tired?  also cold.  bad combo.

  • I'm excited for tomorrow not only being friday but since my phone broke the pther day I have been using this crappy phone and tomorrow I can get a new phone. So YAY!!!

One H's friend who lives in NY is coming down today so I will have a house full of boys.

Today is a speical day for our little family we adopted our furbaby 2 years ago today:)

  • Hey all. This weekend should be normal, I'm working noon to nine on Saturday, H is working in the morning, so as long as I don't get called in on Friday night we're doing dinner. Sunday is probably nothing. Boring is our middle name.

This is exactly why we're taking the weekend away.  We booked it early january because we had been having a spurt of being off.  Both work full time and J also goes to school at night.  His classes are hard this quarter so on days/nights when he has been home, he's been doing homework non stop.

hope you guys can reconnect soon! We've been trying to plan little things together to get us through till this weekend when it's all about us.  It's hard when life keeps getting in the way!  Tongue Tied

  • I'm also cold and tired. It really sucks that I'm doing the most boring/annoying task of my job today too.

I'm hoping I can find enough time this weekend to make Valentine's sugar cookies. This stupid accounting class is really ridiculous. I have absolutely no free time.

    Boring is our middle name.

we must be related because that's our middle name too!

shauni - don works around the clock and we have so little time together...it really does start to wear on the relationship.  i can totally relate.  if don hadn't been ubber sick last month and took the weekend off form his 2nd job to get better...we wouldn't have had a whole day together or even full weekend together since christmas.  its sad.

i have nothing fun/new going on.  my boss and i got into it yesterday and exchanged words.  its making me reconsider the job offer i had to transfer to another branch.  im being overly nice and happy so that it gets under his skin...he's being childish and won't look or talk to me, which doesn't bother me too much.

in happier news, my mom and her fiance put a bid on a steal of a house monday night and heard yesterday afternoon that their offer was accepted!  im so happy for them...its one heck of a house too!

  • I'm trying to get over this cold.  Which is difficult when I'm not sleeping well and can't take off of work.

I'm also trying not to tell a coworker about the awesome cupcakes I'm making for her birthday tomorrow.  She likes vanilla w/chocolate frosting.  But she's also loves champagne, so I made pink champagne cupcakes.  Tonight I'll add the chocolate frosting and they will also match her wedding colors!  She usually bakes for everyone else, so it'll be a nice change and an unexpected surprise.

  • It's not my Friday. Boo hoo.

Headache. I have not been keeping up with my neti pot ritual.

Last night I worked late, picked up a few items at Rite Aid, and had more run ins with the homeless on the way to my Relay meeting. They get crazy when it gets really hot or really cold.

I got home around 8:30 and packed my lunch and gym bag. MFD got home and we watched Criminal Minds, Modern Family and Mr. Sunshine on DVR. I read a mag in bed and we had the lights out at 12.

I actually got up early this morning and in early and have been plugging away at my budget.

Day four out of four for me and the gym today. Woot. This will be a tough class (it's one of those half hour circuit classes) and I will be sore for days.

  • I came in an hour early this morning to make up for leaving early yesterday.  It's only 7:24 am but I'm already hungry.  I only had a bowl of Corn Flakes for dinner last night so it makes sense that I would be hungry this morning.

Last night I jog/walked for 33 minutes.  Woohoo me.  Will do the same again tonight, and I think I might go to the gym for strength training.  Stay at home by myself or get out of the house and go to the gym?  I think I'll go to the gym.

Edit: I was in such a hurry to leave this morning that I ran into the doorway (it hurt like a mother), and I forgot my rings Sad my hand looks so bare.

  • Today is ok for me. I had to get gas this morning and it's so cold and the wind was blowing so hard, so that sucked. The only thing I am literally looking forward to today is Grey's Anatomy and Jersey Shore. The highlight of my day.

Shauni- Me and H have also been in a funk, so I'm hoping V day will pull us out of it. Our bickering is getting on my nerves.

  • Glad the weekend is almost here, yay. Yesterday, I bought a few things at the grocery store for last night's dinner and decided just to veg. Once James got home and we ate, we watched Rocky III on the AMC channel. Tonight I think it's Rocky IV. And this morning, I was able to get up super early for a run and my hamstring feels better, go me! That's all I've got.

  • Good morning/almost afternoon.  Today's okay.  I'm just cruising through, waiting for the weekend.  Also looking forward to Jersey Shore b/c my husband has gotten me addicted to trashy TV.

I have to give props to some of you girls who are making your relationships work with hardly ever seeing each other.  It has to be tough.  I'm on the complete opposite spectrum.  K and I work together, commute together, come home to each other.  Sometimes that gets really tiring.  How about if I send K to do some your H's work so that you can have some time together and I can have some time alone?? :-)

So happy it's almost lunch time since I'm starving.  Had a long meeting this morning that cut into my normal snack time.  On the bright side, I am only staying til 3 today since I was in early and stayed late on Tuesday and was in early again today.  Can't wait to get home and have time to nap!!

Happy to be busy at work since it makes the days go faster, although they're doing construction in our area to add a couple of offices and the hammering/sawing/drilling is making me want to cut my ears off.  If they start painting (the one office is right next to my cube) I'm so out of here.

K started putting up the drywall in the basement last night which means we soon get to paint!!  And pick out flooring!!  Will be so happy to have the additional square footage and to have room for all (well, most) of our furniture.  If we can get it done before the munchkin comes, that will be all the better since we'll have the space for my mom to stay with us for a few days.

Yummers!  I told H I'm going to make us a special treat for Monday night - champagne cupcakes.  I'm hoping they turn out!

Oooh, I'm jealous.  I really like to be crafty and do stuff myself, but MH has zero interest in this.  He's worried we wouldn't do a good job, and would rather hire out.  I'm going to recruit my parents, though, because I want to put tile in our master bathroom.  It's this huge open space - no door from the bedroom area into the bathroom.  The previous owner did not upgrade here, so there is carpet (yuck!) outside the shower and by the sinks and bath.

When we gutted / redid the kitchen at my old house, I tiled the floor myself (had never done it before).  I researched how-to online and then went to a small local flooring place where I trust the people - they gave me a few additional pointers.  As long as you have a solid subfloor down it's pretty simple.  (When it came time to gut & redo the bathroom, I hired someone to do the tile - but just because I wanted it done fast rather than when I had time!!)  If you do decide to tile it yourself, spend a couple hundred on a good tile saw - not necessarily top of the line, but not the cheapest either - it will pay off in spades.

I once saw a video, I think on the DIY Network website, on how to tile floor.  I was like, I can do that.  Ever since then I've wanted to tile a floor.

  • Moleson - the long weekend sounds great. Are you headed north by any chance? I can never remember where is wisco you are.

Susie - totally jealousE of the drywall and painting. We have some water damage in a couple bedrooms thanks to ice build up and I am itching to paint, but with the temps below zero it would mean no ventilation.

Today is kind of my Friday too. I coach tonight and work for a couple hours tomorrow night, but nothing major. DH and I are going to the USA Pond Hockey Nationals tomorrow and Saturday (he is covering it for work)! Saturday and Sunday I am coaching and Sunday we have a big fundraising dinner. Sunday is also my dad's 75th birthday so we are all going out for dinner and I am baking a lemon poppyseed cake with lemon curd and fresh strawberry filling.

Next week my girls have a big test session and competition....I am already nervous.

  • Hi all. Today has sucked. Plain and simple. And I'm not looking forward to this weekend. We're going to Albany where Jeremy's family lives and I'm already super stressed about it. His mom and brother are fighting (again) and no one tells anyone the truth and it's just dumb and stressful. I'm tired of hearing about all of their immature problems.

This has been a week of H E double hockey sticks at work. I swear I can't catch up because something else is being thrown in my lap. Is this school year over yet?! I'm really debating on whether to come back next year or not.

That's totally awesome.  I think I've got DH on board with the tile, because my parents have tiled before, and my mom does mosaic (she's crafty) and has a nice tile saw already.  If it goes to hell, I bet my BIL would come down, and he's so crafty he built their whole house.  He's a math and sciende teacher and not a contractor, but still mighty handy.
