True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance.

Re: Thoughts on V-Day
Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: Vday with my high school boyfriend. We had been dating for a week and he got me just what I asked for- one daisy. But after school he gave me the rest of the bouquet along with chocolates and a hand-written poem. Then took me to the fanciest dinner I'd had in my 17 years. He called my bluff and rocked my naive, game-playing heart.
Worst Valentine's Day: 3 years ago. I had been dating my bf at that time for 3 months and things were pretty serious. I was on a business trip in DC that got extended through the holiday, but I paid an absurd amount of money to fly home for the weekend to see him. We went to a lame dinner theater and fought the entire time. We broke up 2 weeks later. Waste of time and money.
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: I crafted my own little card and got my bf some chocolate and a few DVDs... and some nice lingerie for me/him.
DREAM Valentine's Day: Surprise weekend visit to a B&B... champagne, nice dinner, flowers, and lots of sexy time.
Speculation for this year's celebration?: Handmade cards and Qdoba (BOGO free burritos)... DH refuses to spend money for a "commercial holiday."
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance.
At least in my case. I love big romantic gestures... but have a nasty habit of building things up in my head and then am let-down when V-day rolls around the person I'm with doesn't make as big of deal out of it as I do. Boohiss... haha Whoa is me.
Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: We never really did much. I remember Dad used to get my sister and me roses and a candy bar. I liked KitKats.
Worst Valentine's Day: I guess the ones in high school when I was single. I actually cared about it back then and it made me sad.
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: N/A
DREAM Valentine's Day: To do nothing to celebrate it. I get my dream every year.
Speculation for this year's celebration?: Nothing. It's a Monday night, so I assume we'll watch House or something. Nothing out of the ordinary for me.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. False. I don't downplay anything. I just don't care for romance all that much. The big gestures freak me out.
Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: Valentine's Day 2009. It was our first with JJ and the last before we got married. H planned dinner and a movie for us, arranged for my parents to watch JJ...it was so sweet. He got me this awesome card and the most beautiful necklace...and gave me a night with just the two of us. That was all I'd wanted.
Worst Valentine's Day: Probably the ones in high school when I didn't have a boyfriend and others did. I hate that I cared so much about it back then. What a waste.
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: One year, I got my sister concert tickets to see one of her fave performers. That was awesome.
DREAM Valentine's Day: A weekend getaway. Just me and H. Especially since we're in two separate states right now, getting even just 24 hours with him would be awesome. I don't even need to be in a fancy city - just give me a nice hotel, lots of wine/fruits/chocolates, and H. I can take it from there.
Speculation for this year's celebration?: My dad leaves that day to go back overseas, so it might not be the best day in the world [and H isn't here, either - our first Valentine's Day apart since we got together almost seven years ago]. I'm considering taking the day off so I can spend it with my family. My dad flies out that afternoon, then my sister, mom, JJ and I will have dinner somewhere.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. I think that's true. It's true for me, at least. I'm still a hopeless romantic at heart, so I love Valentine's Day - but I don't want H to think he has to spend all this money on me to make me happy. He doesn't.
Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: I don't really have one particular Valentine's Day that sticks out. DH usually sends me flowers and usually we cook a meal at home and just hang out, which I love.
Worst Valentine's Day: Can't really think of a worst one.
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: Last year, I did the "100 reasons why I Love You" thing for DH. He liked it a lot more than I thought he would, so it was pretty neat.
DREAM Valentine's Day: Maybe a mini vacation somewhere close.
Speculation for this year's celebration?: We're both taking the day off work and I think we'll walk around downtown, eat lunch in Bricktown, and just hang out that day. Then we have reservations for Musashi's that night. I'm excited! I'm making DH a little gift basket. He just got his own office at work so I'm going to get him a Red Sox mouse pad, some cute sticky notes, a nice framed picture of us for his desk, a variety pack of those K-cup coffee things (they have one of those coffee machines at work and he's been wanting a variety pack), a coffee mug, and maybe a few other smaller things.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. True for some.

Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: Last year, I went to OKC with my mom the Saturday before V-day. When I got home, H had dinner and desert made, had bought me a necklace, and bought a movie for us to watch. It was really sweet and it was a complete surprise.
Worst Valentine's Day: None
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: I usually make a card for H. They are always cheesy but he likes them.
DREAM Valentine's Day: Anything that is a surprise that is planned by H. It doesn't necessarily have to be V-day though.
Speculation for this year's celebration?: Nothing. H won't be home on the day of. We were supposed to go out this week but decided not to because of the crummy weather. We may do something next week when he is home but I highly doubt it.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. True for some.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. False. Even though I've always kinda liked Valentine's Day, I don't pretend it's not a made-up holiday, and I totally get why people are turned off on it.
Best Valentine's Day you've had thus far: The 1st one C and I spent together
Worst Valentine's Day: don't have one
Best gift/card/etc that you've given: The first year C and I were together I bought him Monster Jam tickets
DREAM Valentine's Day: would probably be a little get away to a nice hotel or bed and breakfast. With couples massages, nice dinner and sexy time
Speculation for this year's celebration?: Since its on a Monday we will just go out to eat at our favorite local place and probaby some sexy time. We have agreed to not do gifts but I will get C a nice card and a little something.
True or False. All women crave romance to varying degrees, but downplay Valentine's Day so that their SO doesn't think they are high maintenance. False because to me V-Day is like any other day. As long as I have to love and support of C everyday then I have V-day everyday. I don't think all the jazz of 1 day a year is that great-every flower, card, stuffed animal and chocolates are so over priced and it crap you can buy everyday!
